Poem for the Waitress.

Poem For The Waitress At Degraves Street Cafe

I think you've seen me looking,
i know you've seen me smile.
Perhaps if you're not busy,
we could sit and chat awhile?

I tried to ask you yesterday,
in the hope you would not frown.
But my glottal got all stopped,
and i never made a sound.

So being somewhat of a coward,
neither hip, nor hot, nor cool,
i chose to use the written word,
when i chose to act the fool.

This simple piece of doggrel, then,
was simply to let you know,
that i find you most intriguing
and i wanted to say, 'Hello!'

Do you blush now with embarrasment?
Or anger, or fear, or disdain?
Just smile and say, 'No, thank you'.
I'll not bother you again.

But where fore art my manners?
You must think i am quite think.
When formullating your reply,
the name to use is, Nick.

Pleased ta meetcha!

two unalterable symbols of the world;
permanence at rest, and permanence in motion;
participants in the Power that remains.

Hm, you might be better off. If someone wrote me a poem by way of introduction, I'd be curious and flattered enough to go out for a lousy cup of coffee. I'd be damned pleased with myself! Does this happen to her so often that it's no big deal??

Pity she turned out to be a cultural philistine. The poem is quite good.

Oh, she was nice enough about it...i just wasn't her type, is all. :?

And hellfire - if she inspried me enoguh to write, even a simple ditty like the one above, well...i can't be too pissed off with her, can i?

"Oh yeah, too bad, she doesn't know what she's missin'"

:roll: Silly girl..... I would absoloutely go out with someone who wrote me something so sweet. I would be flattered beyond belief! 8)

I agree B&B. A guy that would take the time to write a poem like that just so he could have a cup of coffee with me would certainly deserve further investigation. :)

To be the inspiration that drives a stranger to write poetry is one of the the highest forms of flattery for a girl, imo. It's her loss. :)

Thank you ladies!!! If I turned down such request for a date (from a girl, of course :) ), I'd never forgive myself. 30 years later, I'd wake up in the middle of the night, shocked that I'd not even given her a chance, and found out what this person who was so intrigued with me was like.

I think he would. Misery loves company. Even old misery.
