Finished this he day before yesterday. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't one of the best I think. The Clip/Nimander storyline seemed to really drag.

Yeah, that isn't close to my favorite part of the series either.

Ive made it this far, and finished Reapers Gale. Ive already commenced on the re-read of Dead House Gates, and will continue on until I reach this point again.

Oh man, you've gotta get on to Toll The Hounds. Very important book. (Oh, and Crimson Guard if you haven't read it yet.)

I have actually ( read the Return of the Crimson Guard), but the wife has decided that I cant be trusted with the Kindle account , so Toll the Hounds may have to wait.

That's crazy talk. You've only got three more books to go -- how much damage can that inflict?

Well, four, I guess, if you count Stonewielder....

Well, rereading Reapers Gale. I'll be skimming Clip/Nimander/Udinas for sure.

I note Silchas Ruin points out that a god in pain is not the same as one obsessed with evil.

Is this the first clue?

Some of the quote-fu masters over at Malazanempire may say differently, but surely it must be one of the earliest clear hints. :)

I seem to remember something from Quick Ben before Ruin was an active character (OK, maybe it happened in book 6 after he was freed from the Azath and kicked some ass) but it's been too long.

Hmmm, I have some vague recollection, but not sure if Quick was talking about TCG specifically.

Y E S!! most emphatically so. there was also something that i believe paran said that was similar but i've no clue where it was. and i think quick ben may have dropped one as well but i could be just making that up in my head.

Paran's issue was something else entirely I think. Sanctioning the House of Chains.

TCG Spolier
Spoiler
I still don't think that being in pain exculpates him for his actions though.
