Our Very Own Cynthia Martin!

Some of us only know her as Jwaneeta, but she's been a comic artist for several years now, so it's about time to have something a little more comprehensive than "I think she drew some Star Wars comics once". Here's what I know about her career:

The first book she worked on was Ms Victory 1 (AC Comics)

Image

Then she got her first big job, doing the pencils and covers on
Star Wars (Marvel Comics) 92-93 (covers only), 94-97, 100-101, 104-107

She's also done the following comics (in no particular order):

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (Claypool) 9, 25
Marvel Comics Presents (Marvel Comics) 60-67
Wonder Woman (DC) 45, 50, 52, 60, Annual 2
Cross Roads (First Comics) 1
Jason Goes To Hell (Topps) 1
Web Of Spiderman (Marvel Comics) 2, 4, 33
War Of The Gods (DC) 1, 2
Blue Beetle (DC) 3, 6
Zoombies (Boom Studios)
Psi Kix (Krislin Company) storyboards
Atilla the Ham (Modanim Company) production
Wild Irish Roses Conari Press
Go Girls (Dark Horse Comics) 1-3 (Cover art)
SPECWAR (Peter Four Productions) colorist
Fan Base (Komikwerks)
Big Guy and Rusty (Sony Children's Entertainment) storyboards
Amazing Spiderman (Marvel Comics) 295
Midnight Sons (Marvel Comics) 1
Spectacular Spiderman (Marvel Comics) 133
Total Eclipse (Eclipse Comics)
California Girls (Eclipse Comics) 6
Dragonflight (Eclipse Comics)
Bad Girl Backlash (Americomics) 1

Graphic novels for Capstone Press:
Elizabeth Blackwell: America's First Woman Doctor
George Washington: Leading a New Nation
Helen Keller: Courageous Advocate
Jane Goodall: Animal Scientist
Sacagawea: Journey into the West
Theodore Roosevelt
Wilma Rudolph: Olympic Track Star
Elizabeth Cady Stanton: Women's Rights Pioneer
Booker T. Washington: Great American Educator
Hedy Lamarr and a Secret Communication System
Story of the Statue of Liberty
Story of the Star-Spangled Banner
Nathan Hale: Revolutionary Spy
Max Axiom, Super Scientist: Sound
Max Axiom, Super Scientist: Adaptation
Max Axiom, Super Scientist: Food Chains
Max Axiom, Super Scientist: Magnetism
Max Axiom, Super Scientist: Global Warming

She's also done a lot of other art; here's some of it:

And, last but not least, she did the cover to the second Kevin's Watch Anthology:

Totally off topic but....Ms Victory :grinlove:

Is Fem Force still being published?

It is unbelievably cool to know that our own jwaneeta is none other than Cindy Martin who drew the Star Wars comics! Indeed, she was my favorite artist from that comic book's run. I was bummed out when the series ended so abruptly. I loved her economical and fluid style. At one point, I even tried my hand at drawing my own comic book story modelled after her style. But I quickly got over that delusion when I realized my drawings were pure Bantha manure.

I didn't know it was worth that much! I wish I had the issues with me, I miss reading them. But my sister has them all, and she's in Florida. Boo hoo.

Oh, wow, thanks for all the compliments -- dAN sent me a link. Sorry I haven't been around much. I've been working at a savage pace since January because I was very paranoid about my mortgage. :)

I've been rereading Runes, though, and getting all worked up for the next book. I'll be back!

As opposed to the unruliest, I am sure.

I saw it, I saw it! I didn't send you an email? Ugh, I kinda suck -- sorry, I meant to.

It looks great. I'm thrilled to be part of the FBH experience! I've been working on four projects at a time since January, but I still have The Sekrit Project in my stack. Someday I'm going to work on it some more.

I miss you all too. All the work has paid off but I need to have a little fun in my life again.
