The Real Story Chpt Assignments- Updated 10/14

Post by lucimay »

Ready Set Go!

as i mentioned in the other thread, we'll do 3 chapters per week on the saturday of each week.

i'll make the chapter threads and then the person assigned to the chapter will make their initial post, then discussion will ensue.

each chapter will have its own thread. (i'll make the threads on friday night so they'll be ready to rock on saturday morning)

three chapters per week so that we can get it done in a timely manner.

if someone doesn't show up for their chapter by 5:00 p.m Pacific Standard Time of the appointed saturday, i'll make comment and open said chapter to a volunteer for commentary.

if you know, in advance, you're not going to have your chapter done by post date, please pm me by the friday before you're supposed to post so i can make sure i'm ready with a volunteer to sit in for you.

there is no particular "form" your chapter commentary must take. analysis and summarization are entirely up to you. wow us with your knowledge of structure and composition or enlighten us with your inimitable power of insight regarding author intent, or tell us how your chapter impacted you, or pose any questions the actions of the characters raise, or explain why you love angus and wanna have his babies. whatever your heart desires.

ALL are welcome in the ensuing discussions and i hope all the Gap fans that haven't signed up to do chapters (Loremaster, Elfgirl, Waddley, Sorus, Itiswritten, dlb, matrixman, jenn, seareach marvin, Web Monkey, etc so on and so forth) will join us!!!

I'm not likely to be able to take a reading role as my (dad's) Gap books are inaccessible at the moment. IF the situation changes I'll join in though.

Sadly, it's likely that I won't have TRS until thanksgiving unless I order another copy. Which I might do, now that I'm thinking about it.

Av, good choice on chapter 14. I'm almost done rereading, and that one is certainly packed with action.

I'm having a lot of fun rereading, seeing things I missed, mulling it over again. By now it's surely a cliche to point out how Angus gets "revised" as we go, but it's really cool to see Donaldson carefully laying the groundwork from the very beginning. In my memory of this series, I tend to minimize the contribution of TRS to the overall story arc due to the greatness that follows, but it's all right there from the beginning. This book is *deceptively* simple.

I can't wait for this dissection!

True, but it's not the action that made me choose it. It was SRD's treatment of Angus. But I'll save that for the dissection. :D

Well, you could say that about every single chapter here (except maybe 1 and 2), so I thought you chose that one because it's where the "showdown" happens. But now that I think about it, there certainly is an important character moment there, too. But that one is Morn's. So now I'm intrigued. I certainly look forward to your insights.
