bout them ravers, do u think that any1 else in the land could have resisted the way that LA did @ the end of WGW? jus a question?

sum sui generis
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

I've got to figure it out first....that much of a muchness bit needs some work around. I'll come up with something...

May sound like I'm "raving" tho. ;)

Oh, and the Giants resisted the Ravers until their power was enhanced by the Illearth Stone. Remember, Honniscrave resisted the Raver and "held him" until Nom was able to drive it away by killing the Giant.

Peace,

I think they could have if they really tried. Linden always resisted the very idea of possession, and I think it was that mind set - and not any other special qualities - that let to her success against the raver. The normal person in the land view the ravers as forces that cannot be defeated - therefore they cannot defeat them. I think it's the same for the giants and Haruchai. It's not anything physical that gives them the ability to be resist posession - it's their mental training to resist such things. The raver was able to get into Honninsgrave, but was unable to do anything once he was in there. Didn't the raver struggle with Triock? I'm sure he would have fought back more than the average raver victim.

I think the Raver just left Triock because dead Elena wanted to "control" him herself. The Raver in Triock went to one of the Ramen during the confrontation on the Colossus.

Linden was possessed by a Raver, and it took her some time to get
over it. I think her health sense-- possibly in conjunction with her
physician's training-- was unique in the Land, and I don't think the
average person in the Land could have emulated her in that.

We never saw a Lord possessed by a Raver, did we? Or a
Hirebrand or Gravelinglas. Maybe you need power to resist
a Raver's power.

And I think that Linden's health sense was power. She didn't just
SEE things. She was able to heal Mistweave and steal wild magic
out of Covenant's ring and even possess him at one point.

I think that the best a normal human could do against the
Ravers possession was what the Ramen did at the Colossus...

When Linden is possessed by moksha, she shares moksha's memories of possessing Marid, possessing the bees that stung Covenant and possessing the man who thrust a spider at Covenant. BY a process of elimination this means that turiya would have possessed the rats that boarded Starfare's Gem to attack Covenant, and the eels that attacked Starfare's Gem.

That's certainly possible. Otherwise, turiya wouldn't have much of a role in the Second Chronicles.

Thanks to a post wayfriend made to welcome a newbie named andyfair, there is still a version of this chart available, though I find it hard to read. Should we put in into the Album to preserve it?

What were the Ravers up to?

If you can find a way to snag the original, and not the thumbnail, I say Just Do It.

Well, with an acknowledgement to the creative work done by Watch member tj4242, I have taken the thumbnail, turned it into a jpeg, loaded it onto my computer, and then uploaded it into the Watch's Album in the Laborium collection. It still could use some magnification, but I'm not sure how I can enlarge it. Anyway, when logged in, you should be able to see this:
