If I had to explain Pantheon's end in-character, I'd say that Bel won: oblivion rose up and consumed the world.

Way to go, Murrin.

Good idea.

After my prophet's rousing speech, the Fallen Ones destroyed the invading army, and the crusade continued, sweeping across Eiran and obliterating all in its path, until its final culmination - the destruction of the false Ark, and the release of Bel.

At which point, triumphant, He granted His followers peace, and then initiated the process of transforming the now-barren world of Eiran into a uniform void of perfect stillness over which He holds perfect dominion.

And is finally at peace.

Okay, so... based on the assumption that Bel wins, and Eiran descends to Oblivion... what's say we each of us write the personalized story of our gods' last moments before the world freezes into stasis? Post them all in the IC Stories thread as a last harrah!

P4 is supposed to be all new characters anyway, so there's no reason this can't be a tidier way to end the world. (Unless Xar finally starts processing... hint hint...) Let's say goodbye to our characters in style.

I will enjoy reading others tales, if they decide to do such. But, I will hold out hope for the AllFather one day returning to the third age of Eiran, and will let cho linger until then. Between the threat to her prophet and other matters she cares dearly about, I will await an official continuation or summation of the end before accepting another view.

I wish I could say your prophet died peacefully, but of course Bel was imprisoned, and my people were rightly pretty upset at the other gods. I can't say I blame them for roasting him alive - they were in the desert, after all, and terribly short on supplies. I don't blame them. I blame Simjen.

Better that end than being skinned alive by Madadeva.
But, my hope is even against a deity, there was some strength in being an original Second Age prophet.

Maybe against a deity, but even the gods have trouble with a horde of angry immortals with wings.

At least Asta gets to look out after the oblivion - he is the Omega after all.

But it would be interesting to think about what Madadeva would feel as all those with desires are wiped away by Bel's immortals.

As to the dragon, I bet they left the bones and hide!!

Hey, I got my people off of Eiran before the world ended, flying away in their own little proto-world. Everything after that is just gravy. Even if locking up another god is some damn fine gravy. ;)

If we don't have any word back from Xar in six months or so, I might consider a direct Pantheon sequel set on (or deriving from) the Arc.

But as for Eiran... other than trying to figure out what I was supposed to now (yeah, yeah, fix the world again) and seeing if I was on the right track, I'm not really invested. Anyone can include Simjen as they see fit, so long as it's respectable.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

If the most recent turn has not been processed, and you decide to do it, I would love this, considering who all cho sent off on the Arc. :hearts:

Awwww. No Sim / uK / Zeph slash/fic?

I guess we'll have to settle for a little 'Deva on Raucous necrophilia action.

Maybe some Argo / Numen / Bel necrophilia, while we're at it.

Asta, I'm sure you and I could give a rousing end of Eiran!

Of course, we will bitch each other to death in the process. lol.

You mean other than the part where Bel winning means the end of Eiran?

Yeah, that was my thought about his post too. When Bel's victory involves:
1 - The death of everyone who does not join his cause
2 - The death of everyone who does join his cause, because they too need to be punished for the acts of violence they comitted while carrying out point 1*, and
3 - The destruction of the world

Then it seemed odd to highlight the death of one (delicious) dragon as the "flaw".

It may seem unlikely, but the way I see it is Bel getting imprisoned essentially turns his followers into an NPC faction, and we all know from playing this game that NPC factions get an unfair advantage when it comes to messing up what the players are doing.

[*Bel is very much an "ends justify the means" guy.]

I sort of imagine Bel's followers first killing any dissenters, then drinking the koolade themselves.

Sorry, not "killing"... call it "pacifying". And the koolade can be "juice of peace" or something.
