DEXTER!!!
Ok, I went 4 pages back and saw nothing, so I guess it's safe to make a new post.
I am completely and hopelessly hooked on this show. For those who havn't heard of it, Dexter is a Serial Killer, who kills only Murderers, and works as a blood spatter specialist at the Miami-Dade police department.
I know it sounds Gimmiky, but Dexter is an increadably endearing character, and his perspective is extremely fresh and interesting. I'm pretty sure the 1st season is out on DVD, and we are in the middle of the 2nd season now (Even BETTER than the 1st!)
The first season follows the first book (Darkly Dreaming Dexter) fairly close, but the second season is branching pretty severely... and It's actually gotten better IMO.

I actually read the book a while ago and just happened upon the series when it was on tv. Enjoyed it a lot! Looking forward to series 2, especially if you say it branshes off from the book!

Dexter
The Dreaming wrote ? Second season looks as though
FYI, the character Dexter Morgan has been compared to some other fictional pop culture figures, Spike from BtVS for example.
The overt plot and that is what Dexter Morgan does, but so not what the first season is about. Dexter's story is about how does a homicidal sociopath, defined clinically as a murderous conscienceless person, live in a society that rejects homicidal sociopathy;Dexter is a Serial Killer, who kills only Murderers, and works as a blood spatter specialist at the Miami-Dade police department
Spoiler
IOW, how does Dexter live up to Harry's Code and does he need to live up to the Code
Spoiler
Dexter is just about to throw Harry's Code right out the window and replace it with Lilah's code

I am super weak to it myself. Dr. Strangelove is my favorite movie of all timedlbpharmd wrote:I've watched the first two episodes and I now agree with the above comments - Dexter is a brilliant character, the storyline is engrossing and the black humor is great!
I even liked death to smoochy (UNDERRATED)
Anyway, I was just trying to introduce the character to people who havn't seen the show. The show is really a lot deeper than the premise (most shows that are good are ) Honestly I feel like while it expands grossly on the content of the novels, they are extremely true to Dexter's character and his voice in the show. Honestly, the show is a drama (with a nice crime/mystery element too it) that makes me laugh more often than any sitcom I've seen on TV since Seinfeld. (Well... maybe Scrubs)

Just wondering if anyone else is keeping up? I just watched the leaked finale today, I can't believe how far the show has come. I liked season 1, but season 2 is enormously better. It's was the most satisfying finale since BSG! (And finished the s2 arc a lot better). I have a feeling that this show will start to gain a cult before too long. It's run far ahead of it's premise, (to those who read the books) but all for the better I think. Dexter has an almost hypnoticly seductive power. You think Hannibal Lector was likable? pshh. He was Jar-Jar in comparison.

Dexter season 3
Since Sept. 21 or so Dexter has returned to Showtime Cable. It remains very good. Much better than some of the other new offerings on premium cable.

Yeah, I've been watching the new season. They are doing a really cool job of avoiding the story patterns of the previous seasons. (Unlike Heroes). I'm a little unsure about what this thread's spoiler policy should be. (since it's not as popular on the Watch as Battlestar is) But anyway...
Spoiler
I'm really glad they didn't just introduce another character to take Doake's place. Instead, Dexter gets an unwanted friend (and Jimmy Smitts!, of all people) It was a cool touch.

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

Like you have any taste in women! I love her. Though I've only seen the first season. I'd totally lick her. And maybe make her eat a biscuit. But women gotta be skinny on TV cause it adds 10 pounds or something.lucimay wrote:no she's not. she's freakin WAAAAAAY the feck too skinny and she's got one crazy eye! yeesh foul.
