For any Queen fans out there.
Roger Taylor was on breakfast TV this morning, and he said they are RECORDING A NEW ALBUM
Obviously Freddie isn't gonna be dug up to sing, so Paul Rogers is singing (and John Deacon isn't involved either ), but he said that it's still gonna sound like Queen.
Can't wait, think he said the release date would be around the middle of next year.

I think it's a shame Deacon isn't involved, but I have to admit that Roger and Brian sounded awfully good with Mr. Rodgers.
I'll buy it.
I'll buy it.

Hmm...since Freddie died, I haven't really given a listen to anything Queen without him. Maybe I should give it a listen. Y'all say the live album is good?
Not to be a jerk, but I am truly not sure what Deacon brought to the band. I guess if I give a listen, I'll find out. But I don't remember his name next to many of the great songs of the past. But we'll see.
I really like Brian May, and while I've never bought one of his solo albums, I've always loved his songs on the albums of the past. And I really do like his voice, so I guess we'll see.

I was pretty skeptical of the Rodgers too, to the point where I had the chance to see Queen w/ Rodgers and turned it down. It took me several years to pick up the live album. And, as long as you go into it not expecting Freddie, it is pretty good. The Bad Company songs I like better with May and Taylor, and the Queen material is usually good, occasionally great with Rodgers.
The three piece Queen (May, Taylor, Deacon) did do one Freddie-less song on their G.H. III disc (called "No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) ) which was quite good. And there was usually at least one Deacon song per record - Another Bites The Dust, I Want To Break Free, and You're My Best Friend were all his.

Agreed. George couldn't have pulled off the rocking stuff.
And now he's just a pathetic junkie.

Y'know, I just don't think George Michael has the range. He has something of the voice, but the range just isn't there. I think I've done a better version of Somebody to Love at karaoke than he did at the Concert for Life. This was before I became a smoker though.

Without Freddie or Deacon, I'm just not interested in Queen. When I first heard they got Paul Rogers, I asked myself why they didn't audition George Michael, but I still wanted to hear how they sounded. Then, when I heard John Deacon wasn't involved, the whole thing went into the part of my brain that houses such concepts as Page/Plant (no JPJ? Well, screw that!), Boston without Brad Phelps, Van Halen without Michael Anthony.....I don't know where in my brain that is precisely, but I do know it's in the 90% that I don't ever use.
