I'm only a third of the way through Reaper's Gale, and I still can't wait for Toll the Hounds.....imagine what I go through waiting for Martin's next book!

Edit: Read it. It follows the pattern of the series so far, where the even numbered books' prologues show events occuring soon before the start of the novel, whereas odd numbered books show ancient history in the prologue. This one tells us a lot about what's going to happen in Toll the Hounds.
Well, don't you think GotM's prologue is kinda in between? It has that scene with Whiskeyjack, paran, and surly, which is kinda recent.

But GotM is kinda different in any case.

What's the prologue of House of Chains again?

It was Trull being scalped and what not in the Nascent by Rhulad and his posse.

This confused me a bit at first, but aparantly most of the events in MT occured quite awhile before HoC.

I just looked at amazon.co.uk. Did the release date for Toll the Hounds get pushed back? They're now saying July 1. I am sad.... :(

And at the risk of being a double poster...

Amazon.com claims Toll the Hounds will be available in the US September 16th. 8O If that's true, that would be the quickest UK-to-US-version turnaround *ever* for a book in this series.

If it's gonna be that soon, I may preorder from Amazon.com instead of paying big big big bucks for the UK version, as I have in the past.

IIRC, this is the catch-up point, yeah. Releases will all be closer together from now on, as the US publisher is now waiting on the author just like the UK one, heh.

Well, I couldn't resist any longer. I went to amazon.uk today and ordered the book from them. It should be here in a week or so (couldn't see paying twice the cost of the book to have it express-shipped to the States 8O ).

Turns out there's no trade paperback edition of this one - hardback only. I'm a little annoyed.

I wonder if that will be the case here, too. I'd dearly love DG and MoI in hardcover, and GotM, being the first, would be cool, too. No way of knowing if I'll want TtH in hc, but I don't think it'll be a burning need. Heh.

The only hc I have is HoC, because I got a copy for a $1 at the local used store. :D

That explains why mine's a hardback, then. I was sure I'd ordered a trade paperback. Ah well.

Yeah. First one to come out in hardback was Bonehunters, and it was simultaneous with trade paperback release. Looks like they've dropped the TPB entirely. Which means I'll end up with set which is 1-4 mass market, 5-7 trade, and 8-10 hardcover.

My set is all over the block, too. :( Three mass-market paperbacks, 4 trade paperbacks, and a hardback so far.

Sweet! Maybe I'll get mine soon, too. F&F is already started.

Hey Ted, ever notice how F&F has not posted once since I joined? I think he's avoiding me!

It must be that crazy ritual you invoked.

B&N had a bunch of copies of the paperback version of TtH today, but my copy from Amazon hasn't shipped yet. Hood's Balls!

Not that I care that much, I've got a few other books I want to read first. But, still, it's the principle of the matter.
