I actually collect sayings about dogs.....this is my favorite:
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware,
Of giving your heart to a dog, to tear.

I'm hoping this means they shoud live longer? If so, that's beautiful!High Lord Tolkien wrote:God's greatest mistake: the lifespan of dogs.
I love that! Thanks for sharing!JazFusion wrote:Dog: (N) 3. Bringer Of Happiness
Your tail wags quickly:
side to side to side to side;
I am happy too.
One of the animals a which a generous and sociable man would soonest become is a dog. A dog can have a friend; he has affections and character; he can enjoy equally the field and the fireside; he dreams, he caresses, he propiates; he offends and is pardoned; he stands by you in adversity; he is a good fellow.
Leigh Hunt

WINONA, MINN. -- Bella, a 3-year-old golden retriever/collie mix rescued as an abused puppy, returned the favor by alerting her owners to a fire in their house.
With help from Maddie, a 6-month-old golden retriever, Bella helped get Sue Feuling and her daughter, Mckenzie, 9, out of the house last week. The dogs didn't make it.
Bella had jumped on Feuling's bed early Friday morning and started barking, and Feuling then smelled smoke, grabbed her daughter and rushed out of the house.
But she couldn't coax the dogs out of the house. "Bella must have thought Mckenzie was still in the house," she said.
"Those dogs were without a doubt the heroes," said Winona Assistant Fire Chief Jim Multhaup. The fire, which was caused by an overloaded electrical outlet, gutted the house, he said.
An assistance fund has been set up, but Sue Feuling said she was only thinking about her dogs. "Everything I lost is nothing compared to them," she said.
