THE MUSICIAN'S SONG EXCHANGE

Post by aTOMiC »

Alright. It's quite clear we've a lot of practicing musician's here at the watch. Lord Foul has sent me hours of mp3s of his band/music and it occurred to me that maybe we could share examples of our songs / performances. If you have a recording of you or your band I for one would like to hear it. Kevinswatch can't accept or host song files but if you have a song being hosted on another site or though an on line file storage service like mediamax.com or some such thing, please share it with us. I've read all the talk about playing this or performing that but I think it's high time I got to actually hear an example of what your guys are talking about.

Let 'er rip!

I just watched a dvd of a benefit gig my (other) band did in February, and if I can put some of it on youtube, I definitely will, because it sounded (and looked) pretty damn good. For now, here's a song we did at a prior gig that doesn't look good, but sounds ok: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUfVeJXn9E8&eur ... daddy.org/

I just joined my current band so there's nothing w/ me on the Myspace page yet. First couple of gigs are in early May. Stay tuned...

I'll see if I can post some of my older stuff up there or on Youtube.

Dorian is a Watcher who pretty much sticks to Gravin Threndor. He gave me permission to post his band's links though.

A little history on Without Constraint per Dorian...

the band won the south island battle of the bands here in nz, and went on to be one of the national finalists.

it has a few tracks up on national radio here, being broadcast across the nation on 3 different radio channels etc
Two songs are on their MySpace page:
Without Constraint

and what is on youtube for them:
Brenski
(not the best camera work, but Dorian is the guitarist on stage left)

In either case, Dorian's the one with the swirling hair on guitar...

...btw...you were right to begin with I think...

Looking at the stage, if you are to the right it is stage right, right?

I have a song on my myspace profile that a friend recorded while trying out his recording equipment. It was done with no intention of it being good or ever being heard by anyone else. That said, if you can ignore the improvised lyrics that he sang then you to can enjoy the boogie-blues guitar antics of Sunbaneglasses.profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseactio ... D=97438117

I was shocked when it showed up on his myspace profile, I felt raped because he didn't ask. But I got over it.

The recording is very good and it appears from the vid that the band can please a crowd. :-)

The guys in my daughter's band (she's prorider514 here at the watch) are trying to capture that kind of sound however most of the songs the band plays feature prorider's vocals. She's into punk and classic rock. I don't know which style will win out but so far she seems to have the upper hand.

NZ Metal! Always a good thing.
Trying to find good live music on the North Island proved difficult though when I was there.
Some really great NZ bands about, pity we don't get much coverage here in the UK.

This is Prorider514 (my daughter) band myspace site. "The State Of.."

I recommend "Paradigm" and "Et Tu" (mainly because she wrote them and sings.)
The recording quality is a simple band practice recording. They deserve something more professional but I'm just giving advice at this point. :-)
