More Tombs of the Blind Dead Greatness
Only just realised it about ten minutes ago but, thanks to F&F's question, it's occurred to me that my game's atmosphere will be a lot like this. Haven't seen this film, or the first sequel (which has one of the greatest endings for a horror movie ever), in about ten years. I would highly recommend them. Classics. Can't vouch for three and four, though four has a great reputation.

As long as you hide the little horns, and don't kill Christian boys for their blood, you should be fineMenolly wrote: [So if I really want to hinder myself, I could make myself a medieval Jew?
Actually, a medieval Jew, gypsy, or other social outsider would be quite good.
Either would be good. The setting will be Germany, though there's no reason a Spanish Inquisitor can't go travelling there. You could easily justify it as him having been a hanger-on/observer in the retinue of a nobleman in a Catholic army.Dorian wrote:Member of the spanish inquisition seems tempting.
Or behaps a certain middle eastern bounty hunter...
As for Ahmad . . . don't tempt me to call the village Lecco!

No problem.
People may want to wait until I add the character creation rules (hopefully by the end of the week), so they can get a feel for the game, and the kind of role they want to play.
Also, it may have some bearing on what people choose to play to know that the game (most likely this will be the case) will occur on one night, from a ouple hours before dusk, until dawn. Its setting will also be remote. I envision the game will have about 20 turns before concluding. The sole aim, at this stage, will be to survive. I may allow for secret objectives for each player.
A cautionary note - some people may think a combat oriented character may be the best to go for. This will not necessarily be the case. Hopefully, no one type will outclass another. The warrior-classes will likely have the least mental resolve (from seeing the horrors of the war, and inflicting them), and will thus be more likely to lose their sanity.

This is sounding better and better.
I assume, if it all takes place in one night, that each Turn would be the equivalent of 30 minutes or so if it is a 20 Turn game? And since you can't move all that far in 30 minutes in the 17th century, especially at night, that the location will be something like a garrison, so we can all interact?

More or less. Interacting with one another will be crucial to surviving. The setting will be a village, probably along a coastline. However, certain sections of the surrounding land will also be 'on the board'. Travel will be slow and, given that rampaging armies in this period would periodically rob local livestock (especially horses), actually having a horse or, even, a donkey will be pretty special. In any case, calculation of movement distances will be specific for the map. The time scale may not be so precise, as having a turn called 'the Witching Hour' is too tempting to pass up.Menolly wrote:This is sounding better and better.

That sounds right up my alley. Porn empires, I mean. Not the staff of penetration. Well, maybe.Dorian wrote:I we ran porn empires, could we transfer over another character from elsewhere?
I already have a level 9 pornomancer has a cool Staff of penetration that gives a +3 bonus against light armour
As long as there aren't any zombies... Can you imagine zombie porn? What kind of tacky scenarios could they possibly have? Woman attacked by zombie horde discovers she secretly enjoys it? Plumber comes over to fix the washing machine and finds it's clogged with zombies?
Oh. Bugger.

Stiffs.
That's at least one zombie-porn title right there.
