Favourite race

Post by Revan »

What is your favourite race of people with all of Arda?

I suppose I could put eagles in the poll as well, but I was thinking of only the Free people (As what the Ents refer to them as) and the large race (Valar).

Hobbitses. Because "you can learn everything there is to know about them in a month, and after a hundred years, they can still surprise you." ;)

Gotta love those simple little guys.

in approximate order...

Numenorians, Elves, Maiar, Valar, Ents, Hobbitses, Dwarves, other races of Man.

It's funny. A friend of mine called me hardcore the other day because I told him I prefer the Silmarillion over LOTR.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.โ€

I'm with you Syl.

The Numenorians epitomise all that was noble in the race of men....then come the Elves, Ents and Hobbits.

Nah I do find the men the most interesting, though, their kingdoms etc ... Tharbad always interested me, in particular.

What was it about Tharbad that interested you??? I dont recall the name too well and a quick research tells me that it was a city in Eriador where the Old South Road crossed the Mitheithel River and it was ruined by floods and deserted.

Im probably missing something quite momentous about the place, i know.

Nothing overly momentous, they built an outpost there but it was abandoned. I'm one of those people who has to find something almost unused in an epic story and try to find out more about it :)

Man for me, too. We aren't the fastest, or the strongest, or probably the best in any way.
We have to work harder. Often failing, like the Nazgul. But when we make it, it's well-earned.
