Who chooses these, and are they really random? The one that's posted now (10.17) is about Covenant returning home after a trip to the Land, and how everything is the same, including the book he was reading. One of the book's sentences is "The dreams of men belong to God." I think I got that right. Anyway, in our world, God is known as the Creator. It just struck me that Thomas was chosen by the Creator to visit the Land, and he considered the Land to be a dream the first time he went. It's pretty cool how SRD weaves even the most seemingly trivial detail into the story. Did anyone else catch that? I bet you did and I'm 30 years behind you.

Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

Yes, Relayer, the quote says "He could not bear it" because it meant an entirely different thing to him when he was originally reading it. It almost begs the question, did reading that quote have anything to do with the assertion that the Land was a dream? Would he have considered the dream theory had he not read that "the dreams of men belong to God"? Hmm, one could go insane thinking stuff like this. But, hey, like I've said several times before, I have two years to kill...........
BH, don't worry about the avatar thing. It's like SRD's writing; when it's done, it will be worth the wait, of that I have no doubt! And pure genius at that. The First of the Search is such an awe-inspiring figure, it should take a lot of time just to get the attitude right, much less the look. If you rush it, you might not get the mixture of sternness mixed with femininity that she projects. That is the whole reason she is my favorite. The balance between those two things, along with the sadness in losing her parents and her joy at being married to Pitchwife, create a complexity that made me choose her as my favorite Chronicles character. So far.....

IMHO that is the great thing about great art. Whenever you come back to it time and time again it has something new for you. This combined with my cr@ppy long term memory makes rereading favorite books a real joy for me every time.Rocksister wrote:Did anyone else catch that? I bet you did and I'm 30 years behind you.

... nobody I know.
