AATE Exists!!!!!!!
from the GI:
"Against All Things Ending" now exists. I have the whole book on paper for the first time. Sadly, I'm behind schedule. I'll try to make up lost time during the revisions. But the airlines always say the same thing, and we all know how THAT turns out. (sigh)
For those who are interested: this first draft is 1179 pages. At the same stage, "The Runes of the Earth" was 1052 pages; "Fatal Revenant," 1209. As with previous books, I'll do one complete revision before I show the book to my editors. After I get their comments, I'll do a second complete revision. When that's done, we can all hope for D&A. D&A will enable my publishers to decide when they'll release the book.

Let the countdown commence - hurrah!
Now can we have an AATE forum?

Since the initial AATE page count is similar to the previous two, it would be interesting to know the previous time durations between first revisions and actual publication. That would give us an inkling as to how far behind schedule SRD really is. Of course, I am just happy to hear that progress is being made!
... nobody I know.
Probably not a good comparison, because of the volume to be printed, but, Harry Potter last 3 books took a full 5-6 months from being completely finished (ready to publish) to being available for purchase, I believe. So, if it's typical to take 5-6 months for Marketing, printing, stocking, etc, then that only leaves 1 year for the two edits/rewritesMalik23 wrote:
Wow, that's behind schedule?? I thought it wasn't supposed to be out until fall 2010. Surely it won't take a year and a half to edit and publish?

What is a "D&A"?
"Who enters here, do not lose hope / Who leaves; do not rejoice / Who has not been, shall be here yet / Who has been here, shall never forget" Anonymous / discovered scratched into the wall of a cell in the KGB's Lefortovo Prison in Moscow/originally quoted in the book "Alexander Dolguns Story" (by A.Dolgun),describing the ordeals of an American citizen falsely imprisoned by the Soviet Union from 1948 to 1957.

I'd have to look up the exact figures, but I think SRD took a longer time writing FR than AATE... so I don't know what this behind schedule talk of his is about... but October 2010 is looking good! It's a shame though that the world will end in 2012

I don't see why not, but I think that's the decision of the publisher...

Yeah, if the world last beyond that, it will be because Donaldson fans won't let it end until they've read the entire series...
...After that, there will be no guarentees...

As a Christian, I am supposed to always be hoping for the moment when Jesus comes to take all His children away (the "Rapture", but be careful, popular understanding of that is pretty messed up)... But I do hope SRD gets it in gear before that happens...

If you are right to expect a rapture, I'm sure the sting of disappointment in not getting to read Donaldson's book will be overwhelmed in eternal life in paradise. That is what I was getting at by capitalizing the word Against and putting in the biggrin icon. Sorry, my sense of humor is not very sharp. (Thank goodness for that point on my head. )Ur Dead wrote:Wouldn't that make you:AjK wrote:I am Against that.Orlion wrote:It's a shame though that the world will end in 2012
