230million on four player... ruining football
And where are they going to get all that money :?:
I know Valencia are in financial trouble so they have to sell there big names Villa and maybe even Silva, but how can Real Madrid warrant and justify spending that kinda money .
I heard that the new president of real madrid said he will have to borrow money to get these players.
A lie well told and told often enough,I'm damned if the truth will ever catch up with it!

That translates in Aus currency as $162 million for Ronaldo. Apparently he'll be earning $400,000AU a week.

a combination of shirt sales, bank loans and government funding...
Real Madrid were 400illion in debt but got baled out by the bank and government, hence why they sign all big players not because they can have a good team but so they can money back which they give to bank and government.
Not a football club but more a big business, it shouldn't be like this.

I want wage capping and a limit to what you spend like not over 30million, put this throughout Europe.

WOW you got a treat there, Saints are now part of that special group(which also have Chelsea, Man City, Man U, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Q.P.R, aston Villa) to owned by a multi-millionaire/billionaire. Very special :P

also in the main forum

Sir Bobby Robson has passed away his morning, losing his fight with cancer. He was manager of Ipswich winning the Fa cup against arsenal, managed Barcelona winning European Cup and PSV winning league titles and Newcastle lifting them to 3rd position.
He was England manager and came so close to winning World Cup but lost out to a cheating Argentina.

1933 - 2009, a true football legend.

R.I.P Sir Bobby, a true legend.

I'm in a total state of shock football wise, Aberdeen got absolutely thrashed at home in the Europa league qualifiers. Lost 1-5, their worst ever home result in europe.
New manager Mark Maghee (one of our victorious 1983 Cup Winners Cup winning team) said he "could cry" at the result. I know how he feels. His honeymoon period is now well and truly over after one competitive game in charge. Welcome to the expectations of Aberdeen fans Mark.

Cant see us winning 5-0 away next week, but I can hope.

New season starts soon but I have to say that I am not that keen on new season. With C.Ronaldo leaving and on really big players coming to the League, I don't think it will be as good as previous seasons but hopefully some new Ronaldoish players will emerge.

Told you Real Madrid would ruin football, with their spending past 220million and set to continue. UEFA actually had the nerve to criticise English spending this transfer window when Real Madrid total spending eclipses England and the combined transfers of Spain is about 300million compared to England' 180million.

World cup dreams hanging by a (very thin) thread after last nights 4-0 defeat by Norway.
Scotland MUST win their last two games against Macedonia and Holland to have any chance of making the playoffs.

The referee spoilt the game last night by sending off Gary Caldwell after 30 minutes - Norway could and should have had at least one red card before that, and it effectively ended the game as a contest.

It could have been worse, I could have actually been at the game and been paying £8 a pint :hairs: for the privelige.

World Cup Winners

Spain

Manchester United got beaten by Burnley 1-0, love it. See Man U play against Birmingham and Burnley and they have not been convincing... like a big hangover from sale of Ronaldo. I think United should go out and get a big player in so it will give the team hope lol

Chelsea look really good though with their style of play and they stay like this then they will take Prem title easy.

Did anyone watch the Champions league game Arsenal v Celtic? [rant] Eduardo's penalty pisses me off big time - I know it's part of the game, but I now hate Eduardo with a passion for his tactics, cheating prick that he is! If that happened in Australia, the opposition would beat the crap out of him! [/rant]

The 2nd goal, however, was fantastic. :P

This has slipped down a bit might just prop it back up lol

Three house race for the title between Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea with just a point separating them clearly Arsenal going to win this lol

Man U have the best player in the World while other best player in the world, Ronaldo, team got knocked out of Champions League but clearly Arsenal going to win this as well.

Portsmouth became first Prem club to go into Administration and will go down... good
