I actually hesitated posting it. As Mom used to say, what we experience on a daily basis is not, hmmmm, I guess the word I want is "normal", but what is normal anyway? It's normal for us.

There is a journal entry of Uncle Steve's where he talks about realizing that most people didn't see and hear the world the way he did. In it he says how he always thought they everyone could feel, see and hear things the way he did. And how he began to keep such experiences to himself when he realized they didn't. He wrote that entry when he was 11.

But, here in this thread, it seems abnormal not to post such experiences when they happen to us. My mother wrote in her letter to everyone here that she held back alot. She did. But, maybe there is no need to hold back anything now.

We are who we are. :)
For Myles--
When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

For Mom--
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Fly...fly high against the sky...
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you
The wind beneath my wings

This poem was at the bottom of one of Aunt Tracie's journal entries. The entry itself was about her struggles trying to save AIDS orphans in South Africa. She wrote it after a particularly bad day. Thought I would share it. We, her family are continuing her work.

Opened the back door
all the breath left
the children gather
still, pale shadows
gasping, grasping for air
eyes dull, faces pallid
and the door stands open
outstretched arms waiting to receive
Ah, but all the breath left
beauty passed on
the sky grey against the waning sun
the ground outside parched
and grief, lame grief
soaks the coming night
the door opened
and all the breath left.--STM (Tracie) Hammon 2008

Oh what a blessed day! Tracie gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at 2:11pm. And by the grace of our Lord I was there to bare witness. How radiant she is, how miraculous! Prefect in every way. So tiny, so innocent. Precious gift. Chelsea Grace, we celebrate your coming!

How I wish I were able to watch you grow. These words and journals will be in your mother’s possession after I pass from this life into the next. This I say to you.

Breath of life inhaled, a fanfare of angel-song
proclaims your coming, the beginning moments of you.
God’s gracious gift. How precious you are!
my soul rejoices, carols its welcome to yours,
my heart dances to your sweet music.
you hold all the secrets within you.
light of Heaven aglow with the nimbus
of joy you evoke to enshroud us,
affirm us, bring us hope.

Oh, sweet Chelsea Grace, there in your mother’s arms. What message would you tell if able? Such wisdom in innocence, such peace. I pray your odyssey through this life to be blessed, as you, yourself bless us. May you find love and light, health and gladness, beauty and faith. Beloved baby girl, I hope with all my heart that your dark times will be few, I hope you never suffer the pains this life can bring. You and your brothers and sisters are the closest I will come to children of my own. How dear you are to me. I hope you know as you grow that your Uncle Steve loved you with all his heart and soul, and will be watching over you from Heaven.
Chelsea is 10 today. :) Happy Birthday to my beautiful little sister. :)

I hope you know as you grow that your Uncle Steve loved you with all his heart and soul, and will be watching over you from Heaven.

Mom and Grandpa too...

I think I dreamed of Stephen just as I was waking up this morning, but he looked very different from the picture of him Tracie had shared. His face was the same, but other features seemed different.

And he wasn't doing anything, merely standing on a beach looking at me. Back towards the ocean, in a pastel open collared Hawaiian shirt, hair straight yet blowing in the breeze, and smiling that radiant smile.

It was only a partial sight too, as if it was a portrait. I saw him from elbow height up; no hands or lower body.

I may have dreamt of someone else completely; he looked very familiar so perhaps it was a celebrity from my adolescent days whose name I don't recall and I put Stephen's name to it instead. I don't know, nor have any idea why I dreamed of whomever it is.

I caught Russ on MSN this morning and described it to him. He said he had no doubt it was Stephen, even if neither of us could understand why he would visit me. He said he believed Stephen and Tracie are visiting many at this time though. :hearts:

It just really caught me off guard as I usually do not remember any dreams. Only very, very rarely. Sleep for me almost doesn't exist; my eyes close and it feels as if they open after a slightly extended pause. Except I feel refreshed after my coffee...

I guess there's no real point to this post.
...but I thought I would share after meditating on it.
It just felt...appropriate.

Hey Chelsea! :D

Menolly, if you woke up thinking you dreamed of Stephen, then you dreamed of Stephen. Meh?

I was talking with Anna the other day, and she had a similiar dream. She saw Uncle Steve on the beach, and when she approached him he smiled. He didn't speak to her though.

I think he just wants everyone to know that he's still with us. :)
