Was Lord Foul called Lord Foul while on the Council?
A while ago I was kidding around that I’d try to write a fan fiction that involved Lord Foul on the Council of Lords before he revealed his true identity to Kevin. That discussion sparked a question. What name did Foul use while he was masquerading as a Lord? Was he actually referred to as Lord Foul? That seems rather suspicious. If I were a super hero trying to protect my secret identity, I would go around calling my self Bat Man. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

I'm pretty sure he was called Lord Foul. As to protecting his itentity, I'm sure he protected it better than several people. Look at the Daredevil movie for instance. Do you seriously think that there's anybody in Hell's Kitchen who DOESN'T know Matt Murdock's secret identity? I mean come on, a blind guy fighting a ninja chick in a park in the middle of the day? What super-power is that? Super-stupidity?

Although I can't disagree with you about Daredevil, I'm not as confident that the scenario from the Daredevil movie really applies to the Despiser's chicanery. Perhaps he used a variant to Foul such as Fowl. Lord Fowl the Rhoad Island Red or perhaps Lord Fal or Lord Fow or Lord Feyeowel or …dAN wrote:I'm pretty sure he was called Lord Foul. perhaps he simply called himself Lord a-Jeroth... sounds lordy, and thats what the clave call him... makes sense to me? but then, that is a totally different history, so hey...

Surely not Lord Foul. "Foul" must have meant the same thing to the people of the Land before he revealed himself to be their enemy as it means to us.
No clue about what he called himself though. The guesses here are certainly good.

I can imagine Lord Dave... and when he disappears or begins to reveal himself to Kevin the dialogue goes something like this
Kevin knocking on Dave/Foul's door in the Keep: Dave?
Dave/Foul: who is it?
Kevin: It's me Kevin, c'mon open up I think the bloodguard saw me
(knocks again)
Dave/Foul : who is it?
Kevin: It's me Kevin, c'mon Dave open up
Dave/Foul: Dave?
Kevin: Yeah Dave!
Foul: Dave's not here!

this is a silly thread
an interesting thought tho' .. Foul wasnt known as Foul before he met Kevin was he? and is Lord Foul what he actually calls himself .. a name he has adopted since being dubbed Foul ..
maybe his real name is actually Dave .. he seems a Dave kinda dude lol

hehe, it is silly. I think we were talking about this in another thread somewhere. Danlo brought up that it may have been Jeroth, without the 'a'. That seems plausible, since the Clave adopted that name centuries later.
who knows, it's fun to speculate....i rather liked Farkwad..hehehe

LOL!!! You can be so funny!!! ROFL!
No, seriously... Perhaps Foul did a little thinking and called himself Luof? Lord Luof sounds pretty cool to me.
Lord Fool and Lord Mhoron was probably already taken anyway (the good names always are... )
Or:
Kevin: What is your name, friendly stranger?
Foul: Oh - those who know me have no need for my name...
Kevin: That´s absolutely splendid old chap, I will remember that and use it later on...

Jeroth is a possibliity although there isn't much in the way of facts to support it. Is there nothing within the context of the 1st Chronicles that suggests a name for the Despiser's alter ego? Somebody get Donaldson on the phone right away!

You know, SRD isn't one to just throw stuff in and then leave it. The more I think about the name of "Jeroth", the more I'm inclined to think that maybe it WAS Foul's name on the council.
The Raver of course would know what name Foul used. And the raver became the head of the Clave, and the Clave is what distorted history. So, I'm starting to doubt that they just pulled the name "Jeroth" out of a hat. I don't think SRD would either.
