"Melusina, I hear you. The People are not well-suited to hunt in water, we know little of it's inhabitants. Even the distinction of Prey or Food is uncertain for many"

"Shalaylie, we know that the People came from beings who did not know, did not think. We know that some forces, or spirits, or gods, must have caused this. As Wayfinder, I seek the paths to knowledge, what you call simply "mystic". I would be honored to learn what you choose to share."

The countenance of the elemental took on what appeared to be an expression of relief. Nodding towards the lizard, she replied, "My thanks, Khar-rris'Shrach. It is good to know at least one hears me.

"Water is life, and carries life within all our forms. There are multitudes of what you would deem Prey or Food which resides within our embrace. As well as us ourselves. Whenever you thirst, consume us. We will always nourish you."

Glancing towards the others, the elemental awaits further recognition, ending to gaze hopefully at the one within her grasp.
As he rushed to quench his thirst,
A fountain spring appeared before him
And as his heated breath brushed through the cool mist,
A liquid voice called, "Son of gods, drink from my spring".

The water tasted strangely sweet.
Behind him the voice called again.
He turned and saw her, in a cloak of mist alone
And as he gazed, her eyes were filled with the darkness of the lake.

The thought piercing her own blindness, the elemental let go of the bewildered one with a gasp. We will do what we can, she thinks in return, as she continues to regard voxL mutely.

I believe I begin to understand, Khar-rris'Shrach.

voxL and/or pixL, I fear I understand you less each time you speak. *wide, good-natured grin*

Melusina, I see and hear you. Indeed, it would be difficult for a shaman, taught by Grandfather Sky and Grandmother Earth themselves, to not see and hear you. Did I not recognize your presence, and the significance of your gesture? You have simply not addressed me.

"My thanks, shaman. So it is the bewildered one only who perceives neither myself nor Shalaylie. Should you choose to escort him on his journey through the Valley, you may find yourself interceding on his behalf more than expected.

"I understand your willingness to intercede for your people. Are you willing to do so for a lost stranger?"
As he rushed to quench his thirst,
A fountain spring appeared before him
And as his heated breath brushed through the cool mist,
A liquid voice called, "Son of gods, drink from my spring".

The water tasted strangely sweet.
Behind him the voice called again.

I do not understand. Are you negotiating for the lost stranger?

Perhaps the three in one does not see us because he covers his sight with that. *Points at the patch over pixL's eye and flutters over to a large rock and perches, wrapping her arms around her knees as she draws them up.*

Khar-rris'Shrach, Wayfinder. I am Mystic. I am Magic. I am Light and Music. I was created from the essence of such powers. I can come and go and come again all in a blink of a moment. Time is meaningless to me, us. We simply move in and around it. I understand what food is, but have never had need of it. Does this answer you? *Blinks curiously at the Lizard being for a moment, then smiles openly at the Elemental.*

You, we know well, Melusina. For you are the maker of the Great Fall, under which our Home lies. You are a joy to behold!

*slowly shakes head*

"No, I do not negotiate for him, shaman. I am merely expressing what I feel is to come.

"You feel the rising of powers, and have been informed of them by spirits. Or so you claimed in your greeting which drew us together. This lost stranger seems closed to such knowledge. He does not perceive either Shalaylie's or my presence, and he may have need of us, or other powers and spirits, one day. In a way that would require he is aware of what we may do for him.

"Should you choose to help him find his way, are you willing to intercede for him with what powers may come to his aid? Or what powers may attempt to hinder him? I believe such may come upon you should you take this journey with him."

*turning towards Khar-rris'Shrach*

"The same applies to you, should you choose to journey with the lost stranger. Would you intercede with the powers of the Valley on his behalf should you become aware of such a need?

"Again, I do not negotiate. I merely speak of what may come. I believe it is a consideration to be thought upon while deciding to journey with him or not."

*smiling back at the Fairy*

"The Fairy-folk have rarely harmed the Valley, nor interfered with our circulation. Light and Music empowers growth and well being, which our nourishment also encourages. We welcome getting to know another of their kind gladly. Our exchanges with them throughout the Ages have always been beneficial to the Valley. Your mother may know some tales to tell of such.

"I fear the blackness over the stranger's eye has nothing to do with his inability to perceive us, young one. Yet, I have been mistaken in the past and may well be again. One of the grand spirits over all, Time, may yet show us what can be done to help open voxL's awareness of that around him..."

If you are suggesting that we all travel together, I must decline. I did not call out to those who could hear me in order to become part of a group of adventurers. I merely wished us to become at least mildly acquainted. Which we have. even if not all powers I sensed have joined us. My goals for the moment are satisfied.

If any have anything else to say to or ask me, or merely wish to continue talking, I would be pleased. However, I will not be jumping into anything as far-reaching as you have in mind.

"Well and good.

"Then I hope a precedent for a way to communicate with each other when needed has been established. Even if we should be far physically from each other."

Khar-rris'Shrach shakes his head. "I cannot. Unless Shalaylie intends this stalking, then I would go with if she will teach her mystic ways, so I can consume my hunted. Forgive me if my words seem strange, I speak in the manner of The People. When We seek something, we call it Our hunted. to consume your hunted means the hunt is finished....you found what you seek. But among Us, "seeking" is what Food does as it wanders aimlessly, chewing upon" he shudders in disgust briefly, before waving at the grass underfoot, "thatsort of thing. We do not "seek", We HUNT"

"Tulyev, Khar-rris'Shrach , Shalaylie, and Melusina," if you have finished your negotiations then I will bid you all farewell. I have very little time to reach my destination. It would have been nice to have travelled together. I'm sure your knowledge of these lands would have lessened the time I need."
I look around at nothing in particular. "And to you, Shalaylie and Melusina. I know I can't see you, but I do feel your presence. A kind of sixth sense, you might say. I hope we meet again."
I return my gaze back to the shaman, and the strange lizard: "So I must find my own way about this strange land. No matter. I may have a sieve for a memory box, but I am not a helpless child. I have many tools at my disposal." I point a thumb at the knapsack over my shoulder.
"Tulyev, there is one more thing I would ask of you before you leave. Can you tell me where the sun is? - because I can't get an accurate reading from my portable astrolobe."

I remove the metal plate from the inside pocket of my coat and present it to shaman.

I hope he understands what the instrument is for, and can meet my inquiry.

We are within. The sun is without. My duties to my people do not permit me to travel far in body. Certainly not as far as without. However, I have been there in spirit.

I am sorry, but, as I said, my duties to my people will not permit me to travel with you. If you have power to supply me, I can summon a guide. Do you think you will be able to travel where a guide will lead?

I shake my head sadly at the lost one's conundrum. If I could only make myself known to him, we would do what we could to aid. Hesitating, and not knowing if my thought would again be received, I address the gathered party in both word and thought...

"We are always near, in one form or another. Whether it be a babbling brook, the morning dew, a cloud passing high above; we circulate throughout the Valley. When you drink of our source, you even carry us within you until we are passed out again. We nourish. We are a foundation of Life.

"pixL, should you still perceive my thoughts. Somehow let voxL know that we will do what we can to aid. He knows what I call myself. Should he wish our aid, whether to quench his thirst or perhaps point the way to a place within the Valley, or in any other way perhaps not imagined, have him merely whisper my name: Melusina. We will find a way to make ourselves known to him, like the mud which clung to his feet earlier.

"We offer the same to the rest of you. Pleasant journey to your destinations." *bowing low to the gathered group* "May we one day meet again."

The feminine shaped water elemental suddenly collapsed with a splash, a tiny spray of mist gently brushing the cheek of each of the rest of the party. Then, she was gone.

Nay, I do not stalk. My being is such that I do not enter into the affairs of other beings. I was merely curious when I heard the beats of the Shaman's drum.

I have much to tell my Mother.

*Without another word, I fly away toward Home.*

I watched the - fairy? - fly away.

I am familiar with the water. I have felt rain so many times.

A lady bug crawls across my body and I am forever fascinated by the colors - black on red.

Will they see me?
