Rogue Trader - NPC Index

Post by Montresor »

BRIDGE STAFF

Astropath Transcendent - His shoulders hunched from age, and his weathered face eternally fixed in some deep contemplation, Sterr the Unborn is much feared by the crew. Considered to be incomparably wise, though rumoured to be the holder of dark secrets, many avoid this anciet psyker. Perhaps a hundred or more years old, Sterr began life on a Feral world, as a member of a warring and savage tribe. Revered by his people as a powerful witch, he was discovered by an Ecclesiarchal Missionary and brought within the embrace of the Golden Throne. Taken to Holy Terra in a Black Ship, Sterr became soul-bonded with the God Emperor, and has functioned ever since as an astropath. He has served on the Invictus for a decade. Sterr is a deeply religious individual although, due to the Ecclesiarchy's deliberate melding of Imperial Creed and Savage beliefs on his home world (in order to spread the faith more easily), Sterr has a unique and savage vision of the Emperor.

Communications Officer - Talented, quick-thinking, and contemptuous of almost anyone who wears a uniform, Marla Vehle is something of a contradiction. Although she clearly has no liking for authority, she has herself been in a position of command aboard the Invictus for two years. Promoted on the basis of merit, and with no protestation from herself, Vehle has fulfilled her duties well - much to the chagrin of officers who would sooner see her fail. She spends much of her spare time amongst the ratings, even taking her meals in the hab-decks when the Rogue Trader is not hosting a meal. Marla wears a simple black uniform, which remains the same from her days as a junior officer. She hasn't bothered to change her rank insignia. She is of average height, very thin-faced, and overly slim.

Duty Officer - The current Duty Officer is Rem Mordia, who has only been promoted to the position in the last year. He is almost thirty-five, although his looks and demeanour make him appear to be much younger. Attractive, though not particularly strong-looking, Mordia cannot help but have the look of a fresh and enthusiastic recruit. Although he is quite experienced, his history indicates that he was rejected by the Imperial Navy. His adoration for the institution, and all those who have served in it, makes his rejection all the stranger. He is a stickler for protocol.

Sub-lieutenant Leilana Etradorn - Rem Mordia’s subordinate officer. Etradorn is young and sometimes a little unsure of herself. Nonetheless, she does her best to fulfil her duties. Of average height and appearance, Etradorn has many friends amongst the officers.

Helmsman - The chief helmsman in charge of the steering of the vessel in normal traffic, and in war. Prolx Tyor is a stern and humourless officer, who appears to be in his late twenties. Tall and thin, his face is severe, with deeply olive pigmentation, and narrow eyes. Unusually, Tyor began his career in the Imperial Guard, during which he developed a taste for extreme forms of discipline. He has no friends, and is known to be overly harsh to ratings and junior officers whom he believes shirk their duty. Tyor is responsible for the highest number of lashings ordered by any currently serving officer on the Invictus. Unkind and uncaring, he is nonetheless an excellent pilot. Tyor still wears the lieutenant's uniform he wore in the Guard, now modified to accomodate Amphael insignia.

Sub-lieutenant Bohn – Zarkov’s subordinate on the Bridge staff’s gunnery operators.

Navigators

Gulliame Du Preste - an uncomfortable man to look at, Du Preste is horribly thin. His skin clings to him like worn leather, tightly wrapped to bone. Known to be quite professional, he was the acting Senior Navigator before Praetus's arrival. He exhibited no resentment at being replaced, and appears to like little more than keeping to himself and reading in the librarium. Unless on the bridge, Du Preste is almost always alone. By nature he is quiet and reserved; he rarely speaks when he is not confident of what he is saying.

Karis - a young navigator with eyes as black as pitch. Used to following very specific instructions, he does not so much lack confidence as know when he should rely on other's experience. Slain by Drak-Kung in the Mazeworks, after Karis killed two armsmen, and attempted to exact revenge on the Arch-Militant for killing Myrkris, a rogue psyker. DECEASED

Julient - Refined and elegant, her chance at social advancement in regular society is only marred by the fact that she belongs to a rare class of psykers. Julient is well-travelled and appears to be difficult to surprise. Whether this is a feigned condition, cultivated by years of affected indifference, or whether it is because she has delved into much forbidden knowledge, is hard to say. Around thirty years old, her features are cold, though she is more than capable of winning people's trust and, even, adoration.

ALID-YURIL CONSORTIUM

A Scintillan-based organisation which represents the interests of two noble families. They have amassed enough wealth to have attained a high degree of autonomy. Though they mostly deal in goods shipment in the Calixis Sector, they are known to possess a contract with the Imperial Guard for the supply of harvested algae, for the diet of the guardsmen. They are not a famous merchant organisation, and are accustomed to acting as middle men.

FACTOR KERR - a high-ranking merchant within the consortium, who has been heavily involved in negotiations with the Amphaels for an endeavour into the Koronus Expanse. He is short and broad-shouldered. Although of a patient disposition, his humour is growing thin.

OLYX - a scribe in the consortium who meticulously records the minutes of every official conversation that Kerr engages in. He is passing his middle-age, and seems discontented with the goings-on in Port Wander. His right hand has been bionically augmented to include a number of auto-quills, ink inhibitors, and auto-leaf arrays. He is always seen with data-slates and scroll cases under his arm.

VERENTESE - a cold and business-like scribe who moves with grace and ease. He keenly watches everything, and is always seen at Kerr's side. Rarely involved in any discussions, it is surmised that Verentese may indeed be a bodyguard, or an assassin.

The Albinus Endeavour

PROCTOR MACHIA MENZ - the designated head of the Alid-Yuril agents sent on the Albinus Endeavour. Proctor Menz is an older man, with long white hair hanging to his shoulders. He is of average height, and of a slight build. He dresses in a plain olive-green uniform, and is never without a case of sealed scrolls. Astute, intelligent, and diplomatic, Menz is an intimidating man in a match of wits.

GABRIEL KAUSTIS-YURIL III - a young noble, sent on the endeavour to gain some practical experience. He is barely twenty. Although he has been well-educated, and does not lack for intelligence or athletic skill, Gabriel appears out of his depth. He is almost always seen with Proctor Menz or Captain Trulitch; his mannerisms are interchangeable, depending upon which of these two leaders he is unconsciously emulating. Gabriel dresses in the ostentatious fashion of many young noblemen. His is the envy of lesser men, and the object of desire of many women.

CARNELIA ATREEN - an Astropath, on loan from the Imperial Guard for the purposes of the Alid-Yuril endeavour. Carnelia is young. Her hair has fallen out, and her eyes are glazed, grey and lifeless. The process of soul-bonding with the Emperor has changed her entire perspective. She is disinterested in anything worldly, and is extremely devout.

CAPTAIN GAIUS TRULITCH - head of the security forces sent with the Alid-Yuril Consortium. He is experienced and capable. A number of scars attest to his battle experience, earned during service as an Imperial Guard officer. Trulitch is tall, lean, and extremely fit. He dresses like a military man at all times, and never travels unarmed. Trulitch is the least friendly of the Consortium representatives. He appears to have little time for non-warriors, but is loyal to his superiors beyond question. He has one bionic eye, replaced after an Ork Nob tore the original free.

Security - 30 men and five women are under the command of Captain Trulitch. Drawn from Hive scum, ex-guardsmen, and mercenaries, the security detail is an unsavoury element. Discipline appears to be hard. All soldiers are armed in guard-style flak, and carry lasguns, grenades, and an assortment of other private weapons. They appear to be well above average in quality.

Tech-Priests - there are five tech priests attached to the endeavour. They keep to themselves. None appear to be above the standard of an enginseer.

Workers - a mixture of tinkers, heavy-equipment operators, and other specialist personnel, these men and women form the bulk of the Alid-Yuril expedition. There are roughly eighty of them.

CREW

OFFICERS

Midshipman - Kolstys Kol; a junior officer currently serving in the Auger Array. He has a metallic nose piece, which covers the ruin of his own nose, though it is not bionic.

Midshipman - Ruythur.

Warrant Officer - Sturshyi; fanatically religious warrant officer from the gunnery crew.

Ensign - Castus.

Ensign - Borius.

Ensign Samuels – a junior officer usually found carrying out supervision duties of work teams.

Midshipman Rufus – A junior officer closely associated with supervision duties of ratings. Rufus dealt with Andrea during a minor disturbance on the stairs of the Chapel.

Midshipman Arrigoth Trone - A young midshipman who turned down an opportunity to enlist in the Imperial Navy in favour of joining the Amphaels service. Trone is unremarkable and barely known to most of the senior staff. He has a handsome appearance, and is athletically proportioned. DECEASED, killed by Andrea Chan-Gauthier in the Librarium.

ARMSMEN

Sergeant Hector - Reached Access Lock A-34. Went missing with squad and tech priests when they opened the lock, reporting ‘unholy marks’. No trace of Hector or Access Lock A-34 has been found. MISSING

Sergeant Hurtegen – Led one of the teams investigating the Lower Decks when Drak-Kung searched for missing crew men.

Sergeant Markus - One of Drak-Kung's more trusted men. Formerly served in the cargo hold where he was transferred to security after reporting on incidents of petty theft. Markus was born on the Invictus, and has never set foot upon a planet in his entire life. He is known to be a member of the Deckers.

Sergeant Portia Bastion - Portia can trace her ancestry back through 20 generations of Bastions, though her maternal grandmother joined the clan by marriage, herself coming from the Lord-Captain's personal guard. Portia is very proud of her clan and of her ancestors' contributions to the clan. As a Sargent, she leads the Day Squad for her Lieutenant (also her second cousin and brother-in-law).

She is next in line for the Sargent-Major's role, leading the Command group for the Captain, when her father retires from the role.

She's one of only six people in the Bastion who have the authority to open the doors to the Bastion, though she is not permitted to enter within, except in case of an emergency.

Since there's actually very little traffic into and out of the Geller Fields, except for those authorized personel who have need to be there, and nobody else even makes the attempt, Portia spends a lot of her time on duty drilling the guardsmen. Next to Drak-Kung himself, she is regarded as the best person on the ship for extreme-close quarters combat, both armed and unarmed. [Thanks to Goatkiller666 for this entry]

Corporal Atamiel – Led one of the teams investigating the Lower Decks when Drak-Kung searched for missing crew men.

Corporal Greder - One of the more skilled of the Armsmen. Greder comes from a forgeworld, but had to flee the planet after the tech priests branded him a tinker. Skilled in using machinery, Greder keeps a low profile around the devotees of the Machine God. Was involved in a search of the Lower Decks where he encountered a charnel room of torn uniforms and blood-stain belongings.

Corporal Darris – was with Gorn in the investigation of the Lower Decks. Incapacitated by gas leaks during search, though was otherwise unharmed.

Gorn – Investigated the Lower Decks. Encountered gas leaks and had to take command from Corporal Darris when he was incapacitated.

Jort - armsman. Committed suicide on the bridge when he saw the full horror of a Warp Storm. DECEASED.

Kald - an armsman of no rank or authority over his peers.

Merril – Personally accompanied Drak-Kung into the Lower Decks. Considered to be a capable warrior.

SERVICE STAFF

LeVatch - Garrius's personal butler. Usually found in the Lord-Captain's mansion, he is sometimes used to run errands on the ship. Though technically under the Head Steward, LeVatch is only accustomed to receiving orders from the Rogue Trader. Commands from other crew members will most likely be rebutted with, 'yes, sir, just as soon as I have tended to the Lord-Captain's wishes' - i.e. never. Old, but in good health, LeVatch is professional but distant.

Ioan - a low-ranking cook, attached to the service section of the crew. He is bookish and inquisitive, though has little life experience outside of the vessel. Ioan was void-born on the Invictus.

SCRIBES

Senior Scribe Meritt Thule - Once a prestigious and highly sought after academic, Meritt Thule served for many decades as an instructor at the Kellidad Scriptorium on Scintilla. For unknown reasons, his colleagues conspired to have him removed from office. Soon after, he was employed by the Amphael Dynasty. Though they hoped to make him a senior seneschal, he declined all offers of serious promotion. He is quite old, and probably has only a decade left to live. Almost infirm with age, he moves slowly, yet his mind is as sharp as it ever has been. He has never been known to boast of his learning, and he prefers the company of fellow scribes or the ratings to the vessel's elite.

Librarium Archivist Ursus Davram - Ursus hails from Scintilla where she made a name for herself in compiling a cross-cultural study on the impacts of under-hive violence on the working class of several major hive cities in the Calixis Sector. Her talent for archival research drew her to the attention of the Amphaels, who hired her for her current role. Though uncomplaining, Ursus clearly resents her decision. She has largely been confined to a never-ending and tedious role of compiling dynastic records into one Cogi-Memory. Ursus appears to be approaching middle-age, is tall, and takes care of her appearance.

Michael - a scribe from the librarium.

Lowis - a scribe from the librarium.

OTHER

Lady Kahrmyna - the designated head of the Eternals. Lady Kahrmyna is old and blind. She carries herself with dignity and, except for the fact that she is void-born and lives among the ratings, she bears herself with all the comportment of a member of the nobility. She suffers no fools and never fears to speak for the rights of her clan members. She has been the head of the Eternals longer than anyone on the vessel can rightl remember. She is not often seen by those who do not belong to the clan, and has never set foot off the Invictus.

Boss Garriot Marl - the head of the Sustainer Union. Boss Marl is a big man. Short in stature, but solidly built, and somewhat barrel-like. His skin has an unsettling stain from years working with purifying fluids, and much of his hair has fallen free, leaving strange patches and clumps of thick black and grey hair. Died as a result of either damage inflicted on the Life-Sustainers, or when Zarkov depressurised the component to stop the spread of fire to other sections. DECEASED

Korheer Vohn - Chief overseer of the bilge ratings. Holds no official rank. Thick-boned, broad-shouldered, and devastatingly ugly, Vohn had always been avoided as much from instinctive repulsion as from fear. His great, gnarled hands could break a man’s bones if they had to, and he was not a man reluctant to try. Yet his temper and disposition was just as easily marked by his utter devotion to the Imperial Creed, and to the station of the Rogue Trader. Commonly seen in his void-suit, adorned with numerous prayer pendants.

Ferin – a worker in the cargo hold. Ferin is an outsider, unattached to any of the clan’s, though he is affable and friendly enough to have avoided any ill-attention this might bring. Ferrin died during the battle with raiders in the cargo hold. DECEASED

Kelty - a rating who accompanied Drak-Kung into the Lower Decks, in search of missing crew members.

Morduchai – a worker in the Cargo bay who likes to gamble. Morduchai has a pronounced facial twitch, which seems to bother him every minute or so. A purplish birth-mark stains the same side of his face that is wracked with the tick. The unfortunate habit, and uncomfortable presence, has only aided his skill at cards.

Pold – a rating who accompanied Drak-Kung into the Lower Decks, in search of missing crew members.

Timmi – a messenger boy, used when the Vox systems went down.

Sarrium Gol – a messenger boy, used when the Vox systems went down.

CLANS

BASTION - For generations, the Bastion have guarded the entrance to the Geller Fields from all but the most exclusive of A-listers. The members of the clan believe that they can better police entry to the chambers because they're related by blood to almost all those permitted inside. It's nearly impossible to trick one's way past them. It is a matter of pride with the entire clan that not even they themselves are permitted past their line.

The clan numbers about 50 bodies, who work in shifts to keep a score of guards at the entrance at all times. A previous Rogue Trader once attempted to assign others to this group, and to assign members of the clan to other guard positions. Shortly after this, the entrance to the Geller Fields was mysteriously locked mid-journey. The ship's Navigator forced the ship out of Warp immediately because the Tech-priests were unable to access the machinery, where the ship stayed for over a week until the Captain quietly gave in. Since then, the Bastion has retained sole responsability for guarding the Geller Field Generators.

The head of the clan is referred to as Captain of the Guard, and is typically given the rank of Captain upon assuming the role, if he didn't already possess such rank. The clan is split up into three groups. The Day Shift, with a Lieutenant and Sargent plus 18 junior guardsmen. The Night Shift, with the same makeup. And the Command group, including the Captain and his support staff, plus some floating guardsmen who work either shift as needed to cover sickness and leave, etc. The Command group is also where the clan's young are put for training.

The Bastion is responsible for the doorway to the Geller Fields, and the large hallway leading to it. The hallway is large enough to admit the massive equipment involved in generating the Geller Fields, so this area is actually quite spacious. Even so, 20 people are always on shift at any time. An area of the hallway facing the doors is corded off as a training area for the clan, and some of the 20 guards will generally be busy training there during their shift.

As most ratings don't even come to this part of the ship, the clan is very infrequently called upon to defend the doors. But, they take their job with such zeal that they have become the acknowledged best at extreme-close-quarter combat on the ship. Their fighting style assumes that all fighting will be done with other friendlies very close to you, and takes pains to not get in each others' ways, as well as to minimize friendly fire issues. Shotguns are preferred to las or melta weapons. Shots tend to be fired at point-blank range, often shooting upwards instead of horizontal, to avoid hitting the person behind the target. The hand-to-hand aspect of their fighting style relies on the presence of others, with those behind the fighters being instructed to provide balance points and extra pushes to augment the activities of those engaged with enemies. In almost any other environment, these techniques wouldn't work, but in this place and with these people, it is quite effective at what it does.

During most longer port visits, when the Geller Fields aren't actively being used, the Bastion will invite various groups of guards (even once, they invited a group of the Eternals) to attempt to "Storm the Bastion". In known history, nobody has succeeded. While the ship is travelling, unauthorized crew aren't allowed to even enter the hallway to a point where the doors are visible, and the clan will react with extreme hostility to any who try. [Thanks to Goatkiller666 for this entry]

DECKERS - a small gang rumoured to arrange blood-fights in the hab-decks. Their markings are grey gloves with the fingers cut away, intersected by a single red line. There are probably no more than a few score of them, and they are not known to be trouble makers.

ETERNALS - by far the most influential and politically active of all the clans on board the Invictus; the Eternals derive their name both from Aeterna, and from the fact that they can trace their lineage almost as far back as the frigate itself. Eternals do not accept membership from anyone who is not part of their greater 'family'. Eternals are all void-born, and can all trace their heritage back to one of eight major family groups which comprise their number. Occassionally, marriage with a non-Eternal is approved, so as to diversify bloodlines and prevent inbreeding.

The Eternals are headed by a delegation of ratings who vote upon courses of action to be taken by their clan members. The actual figurehead of the clan must be drawn from a direct descendant of August Sarust. These leaders are always thought of by the crew as high nobility, even though their living circumstances do no reflect this.

Officers who deal directly with the Eternals usually defer to the delegated heads - simply advising them what is needed and allowing the clan members to devise their own means of satisfying requirements. Any insult to one of the clan representatives can be grounds to insight a riot. Any insult to Lady Kahrmyna is grounds for assasination.

The clan is large, comprising somewhere between one to two thousand ratings. A score of the junior officers are thought to be members of the clan, though they keep this secret. Ratings from the clan are usually distinguished by the red cords or ribbons they tie to their left upper-arm.

LOWERS - once referred to as The Lower Decks 63 Through 70 Clan, this expression has been shortened to the more efficient 'lowers'. The new name also reflects the general attitude held towards this clan by the rest of the crew. The Lowers are unsettling. They never venture off the frigate, and nor do they ever travel beyond what is known as the lower decks. They live by rote, and carry out their duties based off millenia of habit handed down from generation to generation. Generally, they are seen as hunched figures in dark halls, rarely ceasing to move except when they sleep. Thought to lack individual personalities or imagination, many amongst the general crew think they may be blasphemous devolutions of the human race. Nonetheless, there are no crew to be relied upon to work more saily than the Lowers. They are currently led by a Tech Priest, though he refuses to divulge any substantial information about them.

THE RESERVE CLUB - A group of ten officers, all of noble lineage, previously united under the leadership of the late Colonel Sullustis Eyre. Leadership of the club now belongs to Alistair Peraton, though the society is generally more democratic in tone. Ranks are rarely used when the Reserve Club meets (usually in a secluded back parlour of the Officer's Mess, or formally in Eyre's quarters). Ostensibly, the club is an association for gentlemen of quality breeding and education, a 'place' where the members can relax without having to deal with social miscreants, inferiors, or women. However, numerous rumours persist that the Club deals in illicit substances and services, exploiting and extorting wherever there is gain to be had. There is little doubting that the members are all hedonists. Members of the club wear a silver ring, inlaid with the design of a vine.

THE VENERANT'S CHILDREN - A small and secretive clan that exists among the Plasma Drive crew. They are made up of some of the oldest, longest serving ratings, and as such are completely hairless, pale, and covered with sores. Numbering about forty members, they are a small but fanatical group. Due to their long service, some have seen the Venerant with their own eyes, and regard him as akin to a god. They preach of his omniscience and all knowing power. The Enginseers tolerate this pseudo-Mechanicus cult, as the crew are some of the more experienced with the drives. No doubt Detronimus would regard them as heretical, but they have yet to be disturbed as they keep to themselves. Like the rest of the Plasma drives crew, they are suspicious of other crew members and are never seen outside their assigned area. [Thanks to Stone Magnet for this entry]

OTHER SENIOR CREW

ECCLESIARCHY

Brother Detronimus - The head of the Temple-Shrine on board the Invictus. Detronimus works with missionary zeal and unshakeable faith in the God-Emperor. He is widely considered utterly fearless, yet he remains approachable by almost anyone on the vessel. Detronimus began his service as a missionary on remote worlds, spreading the word of the Emperor's truth. He has a knack for languages, and can easily adopt his demeanour for a given audience. He appears to be in his late middle-age. Though not tall, he has an imposing physique, and is strongly built. Rumours persist that Detronimus has little respect for the Adeptus Mechanicus; some even suggest he believes the Machine Cult itself to be orthodox heresy. Decades ago, he lost his left hand - some theorise it was torn from him by the jaw of a daemon - and he has deliberately not sought mechanical augmentation to compensate.

Brother Clabo – one of Detronimus’s most experienced subordinates. Clabo is probably not far from being assigned to lead a group of missionaries himself. He has the look of someone who has led an indulgent lifestyle, especially gastronomically, however, Clabo is astute, disciplined, and unneringly brave.

Scipio – an acolyte of the ecclesiarchy, noted for fanaticism. Scipio dealt with Andrea on the steps of the chapel, during a minor disturbance. Known for being hostile towards women.

Cassius - an acolyte of the ecclesiarchy, noted for fanaticism.

OFFICERS

Colonel Sallustis Eyre - Colonel Eyre nominally controls the small contingent of shuttles and landers on board the Invictus Aeterna. Owing to past practices instituted by previous Rogue Traders, this means that he also commands the anti-ordnance batteries on the frigate. These small turrets of heavy lascannons have never been considered part of the gunnery crew. A sense of elitism and snobbery is found amongst the turret crew, and this is largely the influence of Colonel Eyre. A vain and self-interested man, Eyre made his mark commanding a bomber wing in the Imperial Navy. Though his rank of 'colonel' no longer has the same weight on the Invictus, he often makes a point of referring to it. Eyre is tall, with lean musculature. He sports a small beard, grown since he left the navy. Rumours suggest he has an insatiable taste for the exotic - in all things. Having been passed over for the position of 1st Officer in favour of Zarkov, Eyre makes no secret that he loathes the Lt. Commander. He is unco-operative in general, when dealing with anyone but a Rogue Trader. DECEASED, slain by Lt. Commander Zarkov in a duel.

Lieutenant Alistair Peraton - Alistair was Colonel Eyre's right hand man. They had served together in the Navy, where Peraton had distinguished himself at the Decimation of Hive Keratus. Peraton was much like his superior in many ways, having also hailed from semi-impoverished nobility. Peraton was embroiled in an extortion racket on board the Invictus Aeterna two years ago, where a number of middle-ranked officers had been conducting an illegal trade in cheap amasec. No evidence was found to implicate Peraton, and Eyre interceded on his behalf. Peraton is lean and athletic. He sports a neatly kept moustache, and is always seen in uniforms of expensive cut and quality. He loathes Zarkov for having killed his best friend. Peraton was promoted to Lieutenant by Garrius Amphael, after arrival in Footfall for the first time.

Lieutenant Nathin Travic - Travic commands the cargo hold and its crew. He comes from similar work on dock stations like Port Wander, and is a man well-used to relating to others. He works efficiently when he has to, but is known to be a little lax with regulations. He doesn't care for protocol. Travic appears to be in his middle age, and has a weathered and veined face from years of cheap-Amasec abuse. He often works with the Chief Seneschal when they wish to keep an eye on the cargo. Travic also controls access to food supplies on the vessel.

Quartermaster Andor Feyr - Feyr controls the supply of weapons to the crew. Although only senior staff and Armsmen are allowed to carry weapons while on board the vessel, it is sometimes necessary to arm other ratings. Feyr works under Drak-Kung, but keeps a tight reign on on the armouries, so as to free time for the Master-at-Arms. He appears to be approaching middle-age, has a heavily scarred face from a fire, as well as a mechanical left arm. Despite his off-putting appearance, he is quite approachable and keen to socialise.

Midshipman Marcus Tritian - a slightly portly man with a face lined heavily with veins of alcohol abuse. A friend and senior staff member of Peraton, Tritian is a member of the Reserve Club.

Ensign Kale Uberstys - known as the Grox by his friends, due to a deep complexion. A friend and senior staff member of Peraton, Uberstys is a member of the Reserve Club.

Midshipman Calid Ulyle - is always seen in an immaculate uniform of superior tailoring and, judging by the quality of his boots, comes from considerable money. A friend and senior staff member of Peraton, Ulyle is a member of the Reserve Club.

TECH PRIESTS

Enginseer Metanus - For most of the crew who work outside of the Plasma Drives, Enginseer Metanus is the face of the Adeptus Mechanicus on board the vessel. He is used mostly to liase with the crew when it becomes necessary to discuss the needs of the tech priests. With the introduction of Malachi to the crew, Metanus's role may be unnecessary. There is very little that is recognisably human about Metanus. Despite a solitary blinking eye, and pale fleshy hands whih reach from under his robes, everything else that is visible on Metanus is a mechanical augmentation. Thick tubes feed into his face, and coil around his upper-torso. His lower body is tracked, although his flowing robes hide this. Metanus talks with a raspy, metallic voice. He is avoided by most.

Enginseer Adjent - The representative of the Lowers. Enginseer Adjent has alway been known as reclusive, even from his own brothers. Preferring to experiment in solitude, he developed an affinity with the Lowers and, though none know how, has since come to command them. He represents their interests, and is the best man to see about anything concerning the lower decks. Enginseer Adjent has a series of pipes and tubes comprising the lower half of his face. His left arm is cybernetic, ending in digits used for interfacing with machinery; a mechadendrite emerges from over his right shoulder, tipped with chirugical implements.

Enginseer Atanitus - an enginseer often seen tending to the servitors on the bridge of the Invictus.

Enginseer Atrus – Went mad while repairing the Auger Array. Atrus detached his saviour cable and leapt into the raw Immaterium. DECEASED

Enginseer Gaiussall - An Enginseer who toils on the Jovian Class II Plasma drives. A dedicated servant of the Omnissiah, he is in charge of the activation and deactivation of the drives, and takes his role very seriously. Thus, he has dedicated much of his life to memorizing the "Ritual of Ignition" laid out in the Mechanicus volume Runic Spaceflight. He is unusually vocal, unlike the rest of the Enginseers assigned to the plasma drives, and is often heard wandering the halls, reciting the Ritual of Ignition in his screeching mechanical voice

Due to his proximity of the Plasma drives he has a large growth on his forehead, which he sees as a blessing from the Omnissiah for his long service on the drives. He possesses several mechadendrites and an artificial rebreather replacing his lungs and the bottom part of his face. It is rumoured that he knows the whereabouts of the mysterious Venerant, and even converses with him occasionally. [Thanks to Stone Magnet for this entry]

MORGUE

Perin Akreides - The Head Mortician. Akreides has been head of the Morgue for twenty years, having served there for thirty more. He was born on the Invictus, and rarely sets foot off the vessel. He is tall, thin, and of a typically pale Void-Born complexion. Neat, clean-shaven, and always found dressed in his Mortician's apron, Akreides also reeks of preservative fluids. Both his hands have been replaced with bionic augmentations - needles, scissors, corpse-sustainer injectors, and so forth. Akreides does not take a rank, though few would dare disrespect the man who will most likely handle their corpse before burial. Akreides has a much higher than average understanding of technology, as it relates to his trade, and could even be considered a Heretek tinker. The tech-priests have not formally objected to his knowledge, supposedly bartering with him for the best corpses for new Servitor models. He appears to be in his late middle-age, and parts his hair severely down the middle.

PORT WANDER

Trolt'n Runners - a gang that deals predominantly in intimidation and protection. Often at war with their rivals, they do not take kindly to people threatening their turf. They have a good opinion of Drak-Kung, after he eliminated Ketch for them.

FOOTFALL

Logis Ezekial – The head tech-priest in one of the Templum’s in Footfall. He sent Malachi and Zarkov on a mission to Delta-X-7.

Artisan Kreel – A tech-priest who wished to build a great Templum in the heart of Delta-X-7. Zarkov and Malachi’s investigations revealed that Kreel’s ambitions failed horribly, possibly leading to the unintentional corruption of himself and the asteroid. Kreel’s fate is unknown, though it is surmised that he eventually mutated into a monstrous parody of flesh and machine. Kreel was a progressivist who believed that technology was meant to advance human life. DECEASED

Hedrodich Helmont - a man who claimed to be a scholar from a human world in the Expanse. He was accompanied by men in false uniforms of Moriah Heale’s own soldiers. Helmont was searching for an artefact in a corrupted Templum on Delta-X-7. Once he laid his hands on the artefact, Helmont was reduced to primordial waste. DECEASED

Governor Thalos Tor - Governor Tor was ousted from power after he was discovered to be dealing with Xenos. He fled, with Admiral Delatant to the Expanse. Died in the explosion on the Maiestas. DECEASED

Admiral Weil Delatant - fled, with Governor Tor to the Expanse. Died in the explosion on the Maiestas. DECEASED

Inquisitor Angste Stavram – a personal friend of Cyrus Deltael. Was murdered on board the Maiestas. Stavram was likely involved in high level corruption with Cyrus Deltael, and was most likely murdered by a mysterious figure claiming to have been his superior. DECEASED

ROGUE TRADERS AND THEIR RETINUE

Theodore Deltael – the current head of the Deltael dynasty. Though he commands one of the most powerful Dynasties in the Expanse, it is unlikely he has the ability of Cyrus. No more is known of him.

Cyrus Deltael – previous head of the Deltael Dynasty who had numerous planetary holdings and the ships: Battle Cruiser Maiestas, Phraedean, Hollow Redemption, and Light of the Expanse. Cyrus Deltael was not only a succesful Rogue Trader in the Koronus, but was also reckoned as being somewhere amongst the top five hundred most wealthy people in Segmentum Obscurus. After being confronted during his ball by a man claiming to be an Inquisitor betrayed by him many years ago, Cyrus attempted to flee. He was murdered by the same man, having fell into his deception. DECEASED

Seneschal Provator – The Seneschal Majoris of the Deltael family.

Colonel Vandyre - commander of Cyrus Deltael's first shock brigade

Moriah Heale – Heale is an old-woman, yet she has sustained her vitality by constant rejuvenative surgery. Naturally tall, thin, and athletic, Heale is an imposing figure. She seems to appreciate only the cruellest sense of humour, and single-mindedly pursues her ambitions. Powerful and much-feared, Heale’s one weakness is reputed to be her ambition. Heale launched a punitive invasion of Delta-X-7, and sold numerous of the asteroid’s population into slavery.

Septarius Galen - features are distinguished by high cheekbones, and a smooth, aquiline nose. His hair is a dark blonde, and is cut short and brushed forward in an unaffected manner. His most distinctive features, however, are two icy-blue eyes. Galen is a powerful Rogue Trader, noted for his intelligence and ambition. Cold, ambitious, and calculating. Galen has friends and enemies in equal measure, though he currently counts the Amphael dynasty as an ally.

Joachim Der Vasil – a Rogue Trader who was present at Deltael’s ball. Allied to the Deltael family and powerful, yet nothing more is known of him. He survived the ball.
