Through my entire first read-through of the second chronicles, I never picked up that Vain was human shape =/
Anyways, on to actual CC. A few questions about Vain. Was he really as tall as Findail? (I always saw him being tall, like 6'1" or so and Vain being shorter, around 5'7") And did Vain have hair, or was that even mentioned? I see him being 'human shaped' but still retaining some visual aspects of the Ur-viles, such as hairlessness. For the actual design aspect of the image, it looks like Vain closer arm is longer than the farther. Findail, however, is excellent. Pretty much exactly how I've imagined him

Linden should have quailed. His certainty was as bitter as the touch of a Raver: it should have defeated her. But it did not. How often had she heard Lord Foul or his servants prophesy destruction, attempting to impose despair? And how often had Thomas Covenant shown her that it was possible to stand upright under the weight of utter hopelessness?

Extremely nice!!! Excellent concept for a picture!! I'm not going to get the books and check for details right now, because I'm going to bed now. But even if this or that is wrong according to the books, it's a great picture!!

Yes, hair.
In The Wounded Land was wrote:He wore a short gray tunic, and under it all his skin from head to foot was as black as the gaps between the stars. His form was perfectly shaped and strong; but his hair was black, his teeth and gums were black, his pupilless eyes were pure midnight.

Hube: I can't love your first Vain head because, while you have all the colors correct, you've basically made it from a male model who looks to me like a decent, friendly guy. A little less so with the second Vain head, but still, that's what it basically looks like to me.
Vain should be more hard looking. Not downright sinister, but he should look uncompromising, emotionless, hard-edged, relentless. Someone you don't want to mess with. Someone you can't warm up to. Someone who looks like he'd just as soon kill you as look at you.
Someone who, when they grin, they look like a fiend.
[Edit]Sort of like Agent Broyles here. Except with hair.

I am afraid I am going to have to disagree with you over Vain. Certainly your description of him being relentless etc certainty sums up his character, it does not necessarily mean these characteristics are reflected in his physical form.
However, I am basing my vision of Vain in this direction:
'Covenant was struck once again by Vain's physical perfection. His limbs were smooth and strong; his flesh bore no blemish; he might have been an idealized piece of statuary
TSCTC pg.215
So, from that quote, I think SRD sees Vain as being modeled on either a greek or roman statue.
Taking that as my starting point, I have based Vain on the great masterpiece of Michaelangelo, David

(Hey, you can disregard anything I say if it's not helping.)
I agree with the reference to statuary, by the way. But a statue can be sculpted in many different ways, and there are a myriad of different sets of facial features. We all react to faces instantly. We can perceive them as friendly or unfriendly, mild or hard, stern or happy, etc. -- all within the pervue of "physical perfection".
