Furls Fire

Post by Xar »

Furls Fire - Tracie - had already been mod of the Close for a while when I was promoted, and I think it is right that she is remembered here, as well as in the Hall of Gifts.

There are, in truth, no words that would be more fitting as a tribute than those written by Fist, who knew her far better than I did and for far longer; the memorial thread he has started stands as a testament to how deeply Tracie has touched so many here at the Watch, as it should be.

Other than visiting the memorial thread, please take a moment to visit it and leave a few words, or if you prefer, leave a message here. The Close is a meeting place to discuss philosophy and religion as well, and Tracie's life was certainly deeply focused on the spiritual world, so if you have particular prayers for her, please feel free to post them here. It should go without saying, though - please don't be disrespectful in your postings.

What a great idea, Xar! :)

I was a Johnny-come-lately to Stephen's thread in the Hall of Gifts. But I was struck, and humbled, by Tracie's devotion to her cause and the lengths to which she went to be true to it. It would never have occurred to me, *ever*, to invite a dying stranger into my home -- and it wouldn't have occurred to Furls *not* to do it. Truly a selfless, wonderful lady. She will be missed.

Thank you Xar...

And thank you Furls.
I too came late to Stephen's corner of the Watch, and I still have yet to make it through the entire thread.

But even so, from our interaction on the Hangar when I first read through Earthsea and I thought I made a terrible blunder not knowing anything of Stephen or Isaiah at the time, we came to know each other better in the last 28 months, coming to chat daily on MSN as the storm grew stronger, as you were able.

Though I miss you dearly, I know you, Stephen, Isaiah and Alex watch over your family; the doves prove it. And while Stevie may glow the brightest, all of your children will shine with the Light you and Stephen brought to this world.

I love you.
Be at Peace.

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By Your side

I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face
Is before me
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you.

For Mom--
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Fly...fly high against the sky...
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you

<Sniff>. I only had a few IMs with her, and read many posts of hers, but, I could see how beautiful a person she was, the world will sorely miss her, she did so much for so many and that's what brought her joy.

Brooke, thank you for posting that song. Your mother was and will always be an inspiration for all those who knew her, I think... And the fact that she was loved by so many of us who knew her mainly through her posts here on the Watch speaks volumes about the kind of person she was, and on how shining her spirit is.

Its a great memorial thread. I can't read it at work anymore due to my reaction, and I really didn't know her at all. Good idea to lock it after posting Furls' last letter.

As I think wayfriend said in the other thread, makes you want to be better. Hope my kids feel the same towards me as they grow old.

As you all probably know, I'm not remotely religious, which is why The Close is 'foreign territory' to me. But when I learned on the General Discussion that our own Furls Fire was gone, I came here to find out why...

I read Fisty's awesome tribute, and cried. I didn't know Furls as well as maybe I could have, but by reading everyone else's posts, I now wish I'd had the chance.

I cried even more when I read Russ' post...it would break me in pieces to lose my darling Scotty, and thus I feel for you Russ from the deepest depth of my heart at the loss of your precious and beautiful lady!

Brooke, keep her memory alive in you, sweetheart...what a lovely example of womanhood in whose steps to follow!

Would you know my name
if I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven...

Would you hold my hand
if I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
if I saw you in heaven?
I'll find my way through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven...

Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please...begging please

Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven...

Would you know my name
if I saw you in heaven?
Would you be the same
if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
