Battlestar Galactica...

Post by theDespiser »

anybody? anybody??

new mini-series comin on sci-fi soon...looks ok, but kinda lame its not a continuation, or remake of the original..id like to see the original characters and stuff like that, new stories...i wish they hadnt have found earth, though..in the original series..and i wish it wasnt the 70's already...or 80's, or whatever it was...

I still enjoy watching the reruns when they're on. :) Such bad stuff in some ways, but what a lot of fun!! The best part about the whole show was the Nomen (No Men? Noh Men?), who were on a "blood hunt" in their appearance - hunting for Fred Astaire!! 8O Their other appearance was in Baltar's Escape. I thought they showed some Haruchai qualities.

I thought this was going to be a remake of the orginal series. When the Cylons attack..Kaprica...wasn't it? And the fleet is put together by Adama and they go off to find Earth...
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

When I was a kid I faithfully watched every episode of Battlestar Galactica. I didn't care that so many of the stories were lame. Galactica 1980 was an insulting sham but I watched it anyway. (I even watched Buck Rogers. Ugh.) I've seen and read bits and bobs about the Sci Fi Channel version and I honestly don't know what to think about it. I guess I'll have to watch and evaluate then. My favorite episodes involved the Battlestar Pegasus and Commander Kane. Hail Adama! Hail! :-)

I remember that show when I was little...yes, a lot of the stories were not exactly top notch, but there was so little science fiction on tv in those dark days... :?

I just want to know; if it's the future, and society has advanced so much, then why they all have those crappy '70's haircuts? :screwy:

Its not the future. Its the present (1978-1980) but in another part of the galaxy. Apparently our lost brothers in space managed to evolve at the same rate as earthlings, in regard to hairstyle and clothing. Oddly enough their technology is far advanced. Go figure. :D

Now, now. Haircuts and clothing go in cycles. Like bell bottom jeans. Your grandchildren will someday sport the same crappy haircuts you had in the 1970's. So there is no telling what era our lost galactic brethren are cycling back to with their hair...

Yeah, but that still doesn't explain why Adama looked like that dude on Bonanza.... :screwy:

It works better if you blow them alien testicles off....conserves ammunition.

I remember one episode where Starbuck was captured. They had him in Baltar's ship, threatening him. He says something like,
"You're not getting any information out of me! I don't care what you do! You can torture me, kill me, whatever you want, but I'm not talking!!"

Then Baltar tells the cylons to take him away. One grabs Starbuck by the arm, and he says, "Ouch! Hey, watch it! I bruise easy!"

I remember that too. It just makes Starbuck a likeable character. The series had its moments. :)
