Mmmmm.........Yes! (I was going to ask Iarocca, whether you meant pysically, ideologically, emotionaly or what - but then I realised that Abe seemed a pretty good fit on all counts so - pop - the answer was there, no need for the question.

Peter, I have JUST read the part of The One Tree where your SIG comes from. Damn, that's cool.
I was thinking of the tortured soul aspect, but then it occurred to me that, just like your email says, all aspects. Right down to tall and gaunt. Freak out.
Now I might research how to put capital letters in my user name

Yep, that's what I meant. Abraham Lincoln built a log cabin at Haven Farm before he was even born and...
Oh, wait. Torn, tortured, driven by inherent goodness and sticking to one's ideals.
Nah, I never met Honest Abe personally, but that's okay because I never met Thomas Covenant personally either.

I just looked at some photos of David Byrne. That could work.
Maybe we'll turn this into a "if it ever becomes a movie..." type thread. John Carradine isn't still alive, is he? (I know about David -- I live in Thailand.)

Heh...my first thought was of "Life During Wartime" This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no foolin around.Relayer wrote:"And you may tell yourself,DrPaul wrote:Perhaps it was a consequence of coming across the Chronicles in the early 1980s, but I've always had this mental image of Covenant as being a bit like David Byrne from Talking Heads.

But I gotta ask: Dr.P: he LOOKS like Byrne? Or behaves like him?

Really more that he looked like Byrne in my mental image, although without the Big Suit. How Byrne would behave in the Land is an interesting question ((perhaps performing "Burning Down the House" during a Ritual of Desecration?)Vraith wrote:Heh...my first thought was of "Life During Wartime" This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no foolin around.Relayer wrote:"And you may tell yourself,DrPaul wrote:Perhaps it was a consequence of coming across the Chronicles in the early 1980s, but I've always had this mental image of Covenant as being a bit like David Byrne from Talking Heads.

Almost, but actually, it would be perfect for Trell, Mhoram and the Close, IMHO.DrPaul wrote:DrPaul wrote:Really more that he looked like Byrne in my mental image, although without the Big Suit. I think a full blown RoD would need a more dark music track

Seems like a lot of people think so. I mean, look at who people want to play the part of Thomas Covenant in a movie! None other then a British guy (Hugh Laurie) who can do an American accent if he has to.ninjaboy wrote:I can't reconcile Thomas Covenant with an American.. And it's cool, I don't have much respect for my either
