My thoughts exactly after Game one. Can't believe Texas blew that lead after beating up Sebathia like that. Wilson did a decent job against the Yankees...unfortunately the Ranger bull pen couldn't do the same.
Oh well. Series is tied at one each now. We'll see how Cliff Lee does in NY. Should be a good game.

That was unbelievable!! Yeah, I guess it does give hope to the Yankees. Still, Lee has beat them something like four of the last five times he's faced them over the last two years. Annoying, too, because he was 14-13 in 2009, and 12-9 this year, so lots of other teams somehow manage to beat him.

Great showing by Oswalt. Eight strong innings. Nine Ks and only three hits given up. He even got a hit and scored a run! Funny to see him run though...looks like his knees don't bend or something
Oh well, I'm just happy to see both series' are close. Makes things more exciting.

Certainly not yet, but he's well on his way! So far, he's ridiculous! 7-0 in postseason with 8 starts. 1.26 ERA. 67 strikeouts, with 7 walks. 12 runs. 40 hits. 64.1 innings. All in two years!
I doubt anybody has a better first 8 postseason games. I'm not gonna go looking at all the best postseason pitchers, because I'm not that ambitious, but here's some current and recent ones.
Orlando Hernandez was 6-0 in his first 8. 45 strikeouts, 5 walks. 8 runs. 29 hits. 51.1 innings. Very good compared to Lee.
Pettitte now has 19 postseason wins. Most ever. But he went 2-3 in his first 8. 5 strikeouts, 1 walk. 11 runs. 49 hits. 50.2 innings.
Orel Hershiser was 4-0 in his first 8. 17 strikeouts, 6 walks. 13 runs. 42 hits. 58 innings.
Roger Clemens was 1-2 in his first 8. 40 strikeouts, 18 walks. 23 runs. 44 hits. 48.2 innings.
And an older one.Sandy Kofax only pitched in 8. He went 4-3. .95 ERA. 61 strikeouts, 11 walks. 10 runs. 36 hits. 57 innings.

It warms my cold New England heart immensely to be seeing the Yankees lose Game 4 right now. If they lose this game, the series becomes exceedingly hard for them to win with Lee pitching Game 7. As for the NLCS, this is the best one I can remember watching for a while. Two great teams, evenly matched, and exciting to watch.
Right? Texas and SF! Never saw it coming! And I'm a lot more surprised by the Phillies being in this position than I am about the Yankees. They ended the season 13-17. The bigger shock was that the Twins didn't beat them in the postseason for the first time.

Twins always choke, something like 16 straight postseason losses. A great team to start your postseason against, gets the confidence going. Apparently, doesn't matter against Texas, they look unstoppable.
I thought either rematch of last year, or Lee returns to Philly, either would've been good story. Now, the Giants in WS? They are terrible! If the Phils didn't consist of a team of chokers (2 for 16 w/RISP???) this series would be over tonite. Ryan Howard may be biggest choker of all, 7 hits in postseason, 0 runs, 0 RBI, 10K. In the cleanup spot. What a black hole.

Lee is a freaking post season pitching monster. No doubt about it. He is the Yankees worst nightmare.
The Phils are driving me nuts! Watching game six right now and they just can't get the hits when they need them. They really haven't hit well consistently the past two seasons.

Too true tulizar. I just didn't know Howard was such a choker. That postseason defies belief. Had to drop him from 4th spot earlier, and Manuel pays the price on last at bat of season. Nice spectating Ryan.
