Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

Post by danlo »

Took Elora Grace to this Friday. She absolutely loved it. I absolutely loved the Road Runner/Coyote cartoon before it. The toon was pretty short, but I guess it cost butt-loads to make in 3-D. This was my (our) first ever 3-D movie and I thought that feathers and raindrops were coming out my ears and nose. While the effects were great all the flying and, as some wag reviewer-probably Ebert, said the 'Lord of the Rings meets Happy Feet' motif bored me a little bit
Spoiler
as did the plot
. All and all a good show-take the kids!

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and HP Deathly Hallows Part 1 preview were pretty dam cool too...
fall far and well Pilots!

I remember seeing the trailer for this in 3-D at Toy Story 3, and I thought it looked amazing. Not the story, but the effects.

So, your first 3D, huh? What do you think of the technology? Wave of the future, or expensive fad?

Wave of the future, but a tad too expensive for my tastes. :P

My oldest kid saw this, but he had read the books already, he was not impressed. Apparantly, it took five books, and woked them into one movie, kind of like the Spiderwick Chrinicles, but not nearly as well done, in his opinion anyways.

Got a free pass. Took a friend and her grandkids I have a four word review:

It be there, I care not of the other great book Above.
Strike it out! Or, write it in anew. But
Let my name be in the Book of Love!" --Omar Khayam

^ahahahahahaha. Soundbite.
Druids gather at the circle of stones,
To worship the ancient ones.

In the glow of a dying red sun,
Their rites of evil have only just begun...

Oh bought that for Christmas!
