Just quickies right now:

I was right -- Quick Ben survived! Yay!

And we get to see Kruppe (altho only briefly so far) -- that made me happy. :) I'd forgotten he was the twins' father.

And now I'm just beginning Book 6. I'm reading slowly. Distracted by a knitting project, for one thing. Also I'm trying to keep all the players straight. (And Mr. Erikson, sir, if you would kindly start your new sections with the *name* of the new POV character, instead of using pronouns and having me guess for half a page or so, my life would be much simpler. Kthx.)

And some of this stuff is pretty intense. I mean, the Bonehunters *know* they're marching to their deaths -- either the desert will get 'em or the battle at the end will -- and yet they keep moving. Powerful stuff -- as powerful as the Chain of Dogs, for my money. So sometimes I find I have to step away from the book to fully appreciate the scene I've just read, before I go on to the next section.

Hmm, had something else to say and now it's escaped me. I'll come back when I think of it...

You're a mod because you're the one who dragged us all into this series.

I'll go take a look at the post in question...

EDIT: Nah, it's fine. :)

 Could be. I think I might have sought out Malazan after SRD spoke highly of the series in the GI. I know I wasn't the first here to read GoTM, tho.

Yes, luci, it was you. And I'm extraordinarily grateful. I've never read anything close to the length or scope of Malazan. I never expected to read anything nearly this big. Never imagined anything this big could be so... Well, everybody fill in with their favorite superlative. So thank you for the recommendation.

It's midnight, and I just finished minutes ago. I can't imagine how to post anything yet. I'm gonna try to go to sleep now. I'm exhausted, but I imagine my mind will be racing for a while yet.

duchess is the only other person who finished it that I know of. We pretty much finished it within hours of each other. Since she's not here much, we've been discussing it at the Hangar. Just so you all know. :D

Where have we seen Tulas before? Couldn't remember, and he's not in the Malazan Encyclopedia...

Tavore stabbed the ground, Kalam and Quick kicked some Assail ass, and now some other Assail are jibber-jabbering away. Their jibber-jabber bores me.

So I guess he's giving my heart a break before he starts ripping it up again.

Yeah, the Assail are, aside from evil, annoying. And what could be better than Quick & Kalam? You suppose Kellanved & Dancer worked like this?

And yeah, more heart-ripping to come!
