Yeah. Sorry. It's already been too long to remember it all. And I can't honestly say I've ever fully understood anything Erikson ever wrote even at the time I was reading it.

I think part of it was, at least, taking advantage of circumstances. Heboric happened to touch the jade giant in the desert, which happened to make him valuable in dealing with them. He became a sort of Shield Anvil for them without losing complete connection with the Malazan world.

They were the souls of Kaminsod's worshippers from his original dimension, thought at least that much was clear. ;)

Yeah, I had it clear that they were Kaminsod's worshipers, I'm just not so sure exactly what Heboric did to help out. I understood (I think) about him grabbing the Otataral dragon. But not how he was important to releasing the Crippled God, or how he prevented the Apocalypse in The Bonehunters

Double post, sorry.

What did Edgewalker mean when he said to Cotillion "even if you succeed, they will speak of your failure?"

Hahaha, I'm just re-reading Deadhouse Gates, so maybe I will just go the whole hog. If you are hinting that's info I missed, which books do you suggest I keep an eye out in?

Uh no, what I was hinting was that I don't remember the answer to either of your questions, if I ever knew them.

'Tis I who should be rereading them. :D

Well, I'm most of the way though TCG, and more than ever, I stand by my view that you have to read these multiple times. This is my 3rd or 4th read of this book, and I feel like I'm only really starting to appreciate it now.

I forgot all about Gruntle. And Nimander/Spinnock/The Shake...and Sandralath.

Listened to the Crippled God ... (and the prior 10 books.) AWESOME. So ... at the end ... why did Cotillion do it! Was it a good thing or bad? I've read differing opinions.

Now listening to Kharkanas ... WOW! 8O
He/She who dies with the most toys wins! Wait a minute ... I can't die!!!
