He's Turned in the final Manuscript for ADWD!

Post by SerScot »

GRRM and his editor confirmed he's finished. The 7/12 publication date is now firm barring some disaster at the publishers.

aliantha,

I take it you will not believe it until the book is in your hands? You "booker".

You are 100% correct, Ser! Altho if his publisher is confirming receipt, then 7/12 sounds a little more plausible than it did a few weeks ago.

Bah, you bookers are always throwing up objections.

Akasri,

I'm hoping he's going to have an easier time with the remaining two books. That we are on the downhill slope storywise.

Unfortunately this book won't have the Davos chapters. It was either turn it in this year or wait, and he chose to wait no longer...

So how does that work? Is he going to skip them entirely, or let this mean the next book has to be at least partly concurrent with the last two to let that storyline catch up (thus pushing everything back again)?

I am hoping that the HBO series will give him a kick in the pants to get the final two books done. No idea if it will or not, but I can hope :)

Bullshit. I've seen discussion of a Davos chapter GRRM read at a con. The real question, given what happened in AFFC, is whether Davos makes it to the next book at all.

I'm waiting for the Winds of Winter 😏 and A Dream of Spring ... dies anyone know release dates?

I know the TV series intentionally departs from the books in a number of story lines .. I kinda like that .. cos I get surprised .. and I'm loving the surprises 😱

I've stopped caring. The series is 10x better than the books anyway.

The series left too much stuff out, and changed too much other stuff.

Maybe if I'd never read the books...but I have...so for me, that's the story. Not the series.

I love the series too.. Av I don't know the reasons for leaving Catlin Stark out / as in Lord of Light resurrected Catlin Stark ☹️ .. would've made for an interesting story line - it does in the books. But her resurrected state is kinda creepier than say Jon or that other dude that's now paired up with the Hound.

Nevertheless it is what it is ... a damn good production, no expense spared and does great justice to the books. But I read an interview with producers and GRR and they did say the TV series would not strictly follow the books. I guess so as to seperate the production from the books .. I can see why this would be an attractive approach
