Demon: The Fallen - Scene 3 - The Police Station, continued.

Post by Zxkuqyb »

Ladies in the room.

He removes a sketch pad, and multiple colored pencils that are strewn haphazardly in a roll of fabric and says "Describe to me the man you are after. Make him come to life for me."

Just as you notice the foreign gentleman and some waif being shoved down the hall quite forcefully.

Claire and Ivan

You are brought in roughly, and taken through the hallways of the station, passing a room where you recognize the ladies from the shelter through the window.

[Blah. I really don't have time to get into character and figure out the lines here. But basically, Ivan will try to encourage the cops to kick his ass. If stories get back to the Russians that Ivan gave in to the cops or was scared, he's in trouble. Even if they're totally professional, and he is totally silent, that could turn into him being a giant coward. So, he's got to egg the cops on, get them riled up so they kick his ass a little bit. That way, he can demonstrate that they were rough on him and he didn't cave.]

[Part of this would be that he drops some hints, in bad English, that he'd maybe picked Claire up for some some nefarious plans later. Imply that she's a victim and not a conspirator. Get all the cops to focus on him, instead of giving her grief. But, of course, do it all in a way that he can later say that it was just his poor English skills. "No no no. Ivan means he not know Claire. Not say she disposable like dead hooker body in dumpster. No wonder you cops getting wrong idea. Is, how you say, idiom in Russian. Ivan not mean as threat. So sorry for to confuse."]

[And, of course, the obligatory comment about how prisons in Soviet Russia were so much harsher than silly American prisons. This is being like weekend at hotel resort on Black Sea, by comparison.]

[So, do that with some manip, subterfuge, streetwise, maybe intimidation, maybe empathy (in the sense of intentionally NOT being empathic). Then throw in some stamina and willpower rolls to see how well he takes the abuse.]

Claire quickly picks up what Ivan is attempting and starts crying.

(I don't know if they'll separate them or what the cops'll say to her, so I'm not sure what else to do...)

"Um, yeah. Sure. Take that guy..." she points at the man being escorted into the station, "draw his face, and you've got him."

She stands up and yells in his direction, "Yeah! We got you, mother [fornicator]!"

Ivan

You are taken to an interrogation room. They frisk you for your ID. One cop leaves the room with it to verify it's you, citizenship, anything outstanding warrants. They handcuff you to the table.

"Now how about you tell me what you were doing at the shelter, threatening homeless kids?"

He leans over trying to intimidate, but you can tell he's lieing (He botched his intimidation).

"I can easily hand this over to Homeland Security where they'll float you over to Cuba and it'll make your jolly gulags seem like a holiday."

Claire

You are taken to a seperate room, unhandcuffed, and sat down.

"Ma'am, what do you know about that terrorist we picked you up with?"

Diana and Jaina

At Diana's exclamation, everyone turns, jaws wide open.

The artist is sketching his art school dropout heart out.

The cop starts awkwardly "Well, this certainly makes our lives easier, doesn't it ladies?"

"Now how about you tell me exactly what he said. For the record. The safety of those kids may depend on it."

He sits and is ready to copy down your statements.

"Yeah, sure. See, this lady here was tryin' to inspire the kids. I didn't think there were much point to havin' a actress we ain't never heard of come, but Mariah asked so I said okay. Went pretty good."

"Anyways, he comes up and puts his hands on..." [It's been a while. Ya can't expect me to remember past a couple a days, much less months. The [friggin'] die can determine Diana's recall.]

Ivan then leans forward himself, [intimidate check right back] "And be knowink this, little foolish police man. If Ivan threatenink homeless childrens, they all beink too afeared to tellink foolish police man." He relaxes, "This all just beink big confusion somehow. Ivan very likink not slutty actress words. "Come to thinkink... what terrorist make threatenink at all? Just walkink in, making BOOM, then everybody claimink is their idea. You makink threats first, is harder make BOOM with everybody there. Claire sniffles and blinks up at the cop. "Terrorist? N...no, I just met him and he didn't say anything." Her voice rises as she starts to panic and hyperventilate. (manipulation roll? I'm not sure what to indicate here.) "What do you want with me??"

Claire

[The cop is already flustered, he totally bought what you're selling.]

"We were just" Then he is interrupted by a knock at the door.

A well dressed gentleman steps in, nods at the cop, who quickly makes his exit.

Image

"Claire? That's what you call yourself. I'm Barry Young, we seem to have a similar background."

He takes a seat "What can you tell me about the man you were with."

He smiles reassuringly "I'm a lawyer, so anything you tell me is confidential."

Ivan

You are left cooling your heels for what seems like hours. The clock on the wall hasn't moved. A cop peeks his head in, saying the first word like it's a slur "Ivan, ya want food, drink? No borsch or vodka comrade."

Diana and Jaina

[The story just a few pages back is relayed]

While you're telling the story, the lil girl who made the bold statements begins to sway, as if to a song only she can hear. Her eyes dilate and then seem to go glassy.

"Diana you forgot where the unicorns came in and then Bambi made the man give you a cupcake for being the bestest partymaker in the whole" she cuts off her rambling, turns, and promptly throws up in Jaina's lap.

Claire gives the man wide innocent eyes and takes a deep breath, "I really don't know anything about him, except he talked about how much he loves butterflies and all he wants to do is dance in a meadow with them. He also wants his Russian comrades to join him in peace and harmony in a land of milk and honey."

Diana and Jaina

"Oh [shoot]! Hon!? Did that [MILF-lover] slip you somethin'?"

She waves her hands in front of the child, looking for recognition. Seeing no reaction she stands, fuming, and ready to turn towards where ever the Russian was taken.

"I'll kill him!"

Ivan

You get your Pepsi. Few minutes later, your wallet and identification are returned. One fat scowling cop growls "He's clean. Or at least we have nothing on him."

He leans towards you and says "We're going to be watching you."

Claire

Barry cocks his head to the side and studies you "It's Eri-something. I can't place the rest of it."

You realize that after hearing part of your Celestial name spoken properly (not just in casual conversation), this is not your average attorney.

"Fine, your friend though may have made a serious threat. There aren't alot of us in this city. Maybe a score, tops. Not all of us have the same goals."

Staring deep into your eyes "So, now that you're free of the Pit, what are your goals?"

Jaina and Diana

The artist in the room gets the hell out of your way while the cop moves to block the door.

Both of you notice what looks like little squares of paper in the vomit and the candy dots you buy on strips of paper, clinging to Jaina's outfit. [Success! It appears to be Blotter Acid!]

The glassy eyed girl says "Diananana" and giggles "The office men, man, manmanmanmannyman" More giggles "He said it was candy. He said you said it was Okie dokey." Looking around the room with wide eyed wonder "It was okie dokey, he was in your office. I hit the buttons for help and he was in your chair." She starts to dry heave "Diana, you're not angry with me?" Deep concern is on her face "You said not to take candy from strangers but he was in your office and you said only people in your office are your friends so what he said had to be ok."

She starts to cry, then lets loose an ear piercing scream pointing at the far corner of the room "DADDY! NO! NO NONONONONONONO!"

"Yes. Watchink Ivan. Is beink good idea. So that way terrorists am beink free to commitink terrorism by selves."

He takes his Pepsi and his wallet and ID. "So, Ivan is beink free to goink free now?" He heads for the door, unless someone stops him. He has a big smile on his face.

Claire looks down at her lap and goes very still, her face hidden by her hair.

She looks up at Barry through the hair, her whole posture more confident, the flinching look visibly gone from her eyes, and clearly says, "My goals are private, thank you. The man I was with did not make any threats. I don't know anything that can help you."

"[Levy] it!"

She taps the cop on his chest. "There shouldn't have been anyone in that office. Get someone over there right now!"

Pushing off his vest, she runs over to the child forgetting Ivan and the man in the office and does the best she can to help with a potentially bad trip. She's seen, and experienced, one or two in her time. Nothing else matters now.

[I don't have access to my sheet or the book here. If anything I have can help her out, I'll try it. The presence of mortals is irrelevant.]

Jaina and Diana

Diana crouches in front of the little girl, focusing, grabbing her head and making her stare at Diana filling the girls field of vision...and shimmers.

The air around her shifts like a mist, shrouding her new form like a hooded robe, thin boney white hands clutch the girls head now.

Image

A raspy voice creaks out "Child, see me. Know that I" and is cut off by a bloodcurdling scream from the child who tears from her grip and flees your Visage. Your hold on the Faith to shepard her into your care slips and fades in confusion at her response. The mists fade quickly into nothingness, you feel anger at being refused, hatred of their kind for turning it's back on you...such Torment [1 Temp]

[To help the child you attempted to harvest her Faith and use it to heal her ills, was unsuccessful.]

You notice out of the corner of your eye, the artist is furiously drawing on his pad.

You feel something cold metallic, and circular press shakily on the back of your neck. "W-w-w-what the Hell was that?" followed by something solid tumbling down your back, and the sound of metal hitting the floor.

The girl is wide eyed, clear headed, terrified and trying to hide behind the only other adult in the room who seems normal, Jaina.

Something inside Jaina comfirms what she thought earlier "Fallen"

Claire

You faintly can feel a thrum of power, that abruptly fades. Something inside you says "One of us?", recognizing one of the Fallen trying to do...something.

Barry's head whips up and around. "If that's your friend, he's got huge brass" and is cut off by a bloodcurdling scream, he almost falls over the chair as he stands and hurls himself towards the door, throwing it open and then running down the hall.

Ivan

As you are just stepping out of the door you can barely feel something. It came from the room just ahead, or the next one down, where those two women and the child were when you passed by. Until you hear a shriek. Second door down, where the women were. The lawyer dashes out of the first door closest to you, and runs to the second one, where the scream came from.

Claire quickly follows Barry to the door and comes to a stop just outside the doorway. She notices Ivan to her left ? and cautiously heads to the second room, moving much more confidently and smoothly then she had been previously.

Ivan smiles wickedly at Claire, then turns on his heal and heads towards the exit. Most of the cops and the fancy lawyer seemed to be occupied; this was a perfect opportunity to quietly head to the front counter.

The Range Rover was probably in impound somewhere, as were his keys. But he didn't want to be anywhere near any of this infernal madness.

So, he just heads out the front door of the station and down the street a ways. After a few blocks, when he's sure he's no longer being followed, he finds a nearby bar, something on the seedy side, and pays the bartender $20 to use the bar's phone.

She shrugs. "Death was coming for the child. It was not her time."

"It should never be her time."
