Pilot show was on two nites in a row. Caught it the other night and I liked it. Modern take on Grimm Bros fairy tales with a Cop finding out he is one of the last in a long line of Grimm's, which are special folks who have a knack to seek, find and kill the "monsters". I really liked the location shots, atmospheric music and camera angles. For me, it is (so far) much better than Once Upon a Time and American Gothic season openers. The story is more basic and probably old school compared to the other two shows, but still liked what I saw.
Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.

He only sees their true face when they lose control. In that event, a snarl (anger) would seem to be appropriate.Akasri wrote:I agree it's better than Once Upon a Time.
Could be an interesting show, but how come every creature he sees snarls at him? Can he only see them when they are snarling?
And how did he get his power if his mother is still alive?
Well, his mother and father are dead. His aunt was dying of cancer, so the power was transfering to him.
So far, my favorite character is the Blutbad "sidekick".

the difference between evidence and sources: whether they come from the horse's mouth or a horse's ass.
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

I don't know about this one. The writing is pretty damn weak, especially the dialogue. With the exception of the Blutbad (and that just sounds silly), they're all two-dimensional stock characters.
And the special effects are just weak. Sanctuary does a better job, and most of that show is filmed in front of a green screen.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

and yeah syl, i agree the writing is weak. i've just watched the second episode. will give it 3 more. it seem lately that i am apt to give a show 5 episodes to see if it will get better.
not even gonna watch once upon a time cause the stupid pre pilot hype just annoyed the piss outa me.
