Court Forums

Post by Avatar »

So guys...now that P3 is officially over, we have the court forums sitting around doing nothing. I know most of you can only see the one you were a member of, but they're cluttering up my index page. :)

So what are we going to do with them?

The options are to delete them and their contents, to archive their contents and make the threads publicly available, or, I guess, to leave them as they are.

No guarantees the winning option gets done, but I promise to think about it. ;)

Xar, if you're around, your vote will count extra.

I wish I remembered if I said anything I wouldn't want this or that player to know. Probably.

hmm...

If they remain hidden, they still list in your index page as an admin, av? Do they limit the availability of additional forums GT can hold, should new games be suggested?

I don't think there's really anything in Sunrise worth hanging on to, if Eiran is done forever. But if there is any possibility of some sort of revamp, possibly Syl's suggested ship game or similar, they may be handy to be able to reference. Not sure I would want them public though.

Yes, they show up on my index page. No, they don't limit the availability of additional forums. (As far as I know.)

Looks like the majority are for archiving them publicly so far...

I think they should be publicly available... there has been a lot of scheming behind the scenes there, especially in the Eclipse Court with its juggling of Sunrise and Sunset, that would be interesting for players to see... as long as people can separate the characters from the players!

I'm strongly not in favor of this unless Av will purge my posts. It's not entirely unlike making my private messages public.

But more important, Xar, get going on P4!

To be honest, I think I'm coming to the same conclusion. Those posts, in all courts, were made with the expectation that they would be private.

I don't think I could make them public in good conscience without the unqualified permission of every participant. And more than one person has approached me asking for some censorship.

I think the only fair thing to do is delete them.

Also, we know exactly how good people are at separating the player from the character.

It's only a game, folks, and now that it's over there shouldn't be anything to hide.

So, while I personally agree with Murrin, I can see how those who don't may have posted things, or posted in ways that they might not want made public.

But is there any way that *I* could read the other two forums real quick, before they get deleted? Please? I really want to know what was going on behind those closed doors, in-game.

I agree with Syl and Fist. Leave them secret. There is some strategy there that people may want to keep to themselves. It isn't so much secrets but playing style that might be detrimental to future games.

I'm thinking of personal insults. I just logged in as Zephyr, intending to do searches for various names and words, but forget it. Even though I don't know for sure, I assume I said stuff I'd rather not have out there in public. There was one player whose agenda for two games was to harrass me. I may have said some things...

I remember saying some stuff about Xar, knowing he would be reading it.

Hmmm, I might have a temporary / partial solution.

Given the number of hidden forums, I might just make a forum for them. At least it'll tidy things up. Then they can just stay hidden.

So... if the argument is valid to make them all public for evermore, then do so. If the argument isn't valid... if they should be kept secret (because some players said or did things they don't want made public), then just go ahead and delete them.

Other than allowing me the chance to read the secret stuff before you delete it, there' no real benefit to delaying the decision. If having the hidden forums around is a problem, make them not be hidden, or make them not be around.

But please, let me read it all before you delete it.

I'm surprised that, as the overall GT mod, you can't read them already.
