But not a 'greet the meat.' That's the Adams meet-up in the summer (or something else I'm sure I don't want to know).
I'll be there.
I'll be there.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

It's beginning to look unlikely that I can make it. I am sad.

I'm in.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. it's not fair to burden Julie with the guilt of you not going.sgt.null wrote:julie is officially out. her boss informed her that she has to work that week so the boss can take a class.
julie wants to send me, but i am not sure about the fairness of that.

wayfriend, that reminds me of what the teachers wrote on most of my school reports.... "has a big mouth"
I've been steering clear of this thread, thinking if I don't come here and say it, it won't be true.
I can't go into specifics because of confidentiality requirements (most of you won't be familiar with Australian companies, but just to be safe), my company is in the process of being bought by a bigger company (capitalism: big fish eats little fish). We are not sure what the ramifications for our jobs will be, but it is very unlikely I'll be able to replicate the work-from-home arrangement I have with my current employer and it would be too far to travel to the new employer. In short, my employment situation just became very insecure and whilst I can 'afford' an o/s trip, I don't think I can 'justify' it as I may need my savings to cushion the transition from fulltime worker to freelance pimp.
I haven't definitely ruled out this trip, mostly because I was looking forward to it too much, but it isn't looking good.
