"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Sorry, Lorin, but you can't second and nominate. Oh, and as the 2005 WOTY, Danlo is ineligible (list of previous winners added to first post)

David Williams (previously LF, previously Lord Foul).

There aren't words enough to explain why. Just to try - the main reason is the feel of the Watch, the way it's not some other forum on the Net, but an incarnation of the Land. It felt at first like just coming to some forum to register and perhaps post a few things to some practical end, but to be greeted here by Lord Foul, and then to see all the other wonders the Watch has, was like being brought into the Land, becoming a part of it.

I second the nomination of David Williams.

David Williams was a good poster
David Williams was a great moderator
David Williams was an excellent human being.

David Williams and I have had problems in the past with all the echo chamber ronso-rage.

David Williams.

I have to struggle to remember anyone else from 2011, why did it take until now to begin the noms and alien nations?

Who Can say.

deer of the dawn!
This feels weird, like I'm "promoting" my friend, but here goes...
She's so much fun, warm-hearted and also serious and full of conviction - while truly not taking herself too seriously in lotsa ways!
I love some of the creative ways she bounces things around.

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."
