What is your favorite Star Wars ship?
There are so many cool ships in Star Wars. Choosing your favorite might be little tough.
Mine has been from the first moment I saw one blastin across my screen was the Star Deystroyer.

There's Boba Fett's ship, too.

Perhaps this doesn't qualify, but I always thought the landspeeder was a cool vehicle. We all know Luke's busted up machine, but remember that shiny "family" landspeeder in the garage? Was that the equivalent of the family sedan with air conditioning and power windows? That would've fetched a fair price for Luke, not his barely-in-one-piece speeder.

That reminds me of Luke mentioning his T-16 during the Deathstar attack briefing. I wonder what that is like. He was apparently bullseyeing womprats with the thing. Could it be his speeder I wonder?Matrixman wrote:Perhaps this doesn't qualify, but I always thought the landspeeder was a cool vehicle. it HAS to be the Falcon. I loved it!!! The thought that it could fly apart at any minute just cracked me up.

Ah, the one and only Furls Fire. I'm honored to meet one of the veterans of the Watch here.
Yes, the Millenium Falcon is one of the great space vessels of sci-fi cinema, no question about it. Leia's favorite "bucket of bolts" does seem to have one problem after another; but hey, it's only to be expected when you're the all-time favorite practice target for eager TIE fighter pilots and demented Star Destroyer captains everywhere. Something's gotta give!
Also, I think sometimes Han's endless tinkering with the Falcon did more harm than good. One moment the ship can go "point five past lightspeed" to leave the Empire in the dust, in the next it's become a sitting duck in Captain Needa's shooting gallery because Han goofed up on a previous repair job. "It wasn't my fault!"
There was that funny scene in the Falcon in Empire Strikes Back when Han is furiously trying to get the ship off Hoth. As he turns the power on in the cockpit, it suddenly decides to die on him. An annoyed Capt. Solo simply whacks the ship with his arm and the Falcon miraculously springs back to life. All that technology, yet it takes human elbow grease (or just a plain elbow in this case) to make it work! Was Leia impressed, or had she seen this sort of thing from Han before? "I know I'm in trouble when Han has to resort to banging his ship..."

"If I'm right, they will do a refuse dump before jumping into lightspeed. And then we'll just float away..."

Love it!!
And hey...not sure I'm a "veteren". I've only been here since the beginning of August.

I think one of the reasons I find the new movies so flat is because there is none of that banter, and no rickety ships, and no "little man" fighting the greater foe.
the Falcon seemed to symbolize the Rebellion. Here they were, a small band of tattered worn out fighters of freedom, against this huge empire. And just like the Falcon "holding together" they also held together and prevailed. The newer movies lack that. I know it's the story of how Anakin became Vadar. But, it seems flat to me. Yeah, it's flashy, has all those nice looking ships, and fantastic special effects. But it lacks "heart". At least to me it does.
I miss Han and the Falcon.

I think the new movies don't have a chance because there aren't any surprises. We know the Jedi Order will be all but wiped out. But we know that Yoda will live, even though it will probably appear that he dies. We know Obi will live. We know Annakin's going over to the dark side big time, and that he's going to be badly injured. We know who Darth Sidious is. And on and on. There's not much that can be done about it, so we're just left looking at the visuals. Which, fortunately, are kinda great.
