Ivan closes his eyes and Listens for the music of faith-based power. Just to see if the old woman is anything other than a homeless woman.

Clair looks around the truck, her face paler then normal, and tries to catch Ivan's attention.

What is different about the office, the desk, and is there anything in the open drawer?

Ivan keeps the homeless woman in his peripheral vision, while turning to look at Claire's frantic gyrations.

Not wanting to speak, he tries to convey "?" with a facial expression in the dark.

Claire frowns and looks over, noticing the woman is still bumbling her way through the garbage can. She waves dismissively at Ivan and moves towards the side of the house furthest from the woman, skirting around Ivan.

Ivan draws his pistol, then holds it low against his leg to avoid anyone seeing it in the dark, and follows Claire around the house.

Claire comes around the back of the house, tilting her head towards the patio door up on the deck, and then to the door further from them, leading into the garage. She glances back at Ivan and crouches down, appearing to tie her shoe laces and pulling a black switchblade handle about 5" long out of her shoe in the process.

Ivan and Claire:

You hear semi incoherent mumbling, crying, and a great gnashing of teeth from inside. The strong reek of poorly labeled rubbing alcohol, I mean cheap booze engulfs you as you get close to the house.

Baglady has an interest in Claire when she moved closer to the house.

The dog's ears are folded back, tail down, bearing teeth, but not growling.

Moments later at sundown, and the shadows fully fall over the city, the dog sneezes once, shakes it's head, looks at Ivan, then Claire, then the baglady, then back to you both.

Diana:

A quick glance shows some things appear to be out of place.

Your chair isn't in it's normal spot, pushed back some from the desk. The phone is off the hook. The locked drawer is open, but the lock is in the "locked" position. The other drawers appear normal. No signs of forced entry from the outside. What looks like fingernail marks are on the inside of it. Nothing in the drawer is out of place, but something feels different, faintly familiar, it seems to cling to the drawer.

Ivan looks around, and seeing no immediate threat, gestures for Claire to continue whatever she's doing. At the same time, his facial expression is questioning, since he doesn't know exactly what the plan here is.

Claire stands up and moves in close to Ivan, leaning up to whisper in his ear. "Someone tore the veil and came through...an old man." She steps back and looks at him pointedly.

Ivan looks around at the windows, and there are screens over each of them. "Which veil? No old men here."

Claire's shoulders slump and she whispers "Right." She looks around briefly, keeping an eye on the homeless woman and the dog before moving closer to the back patio door.

Ivan and Claire:

Claire approaches the backdoor the sounds get more clear. Self recrimination seems to be the drunken order of the night.

Baglady shifts position to get a better view around the house at Claire while anti-covertly keeping an eye on Ivan. Her lips are moving.

The dog, all sense of fear gone, walks calmly beside you, taking in everything.

"What we do, Claire?" says Ivan, as he puts his gun away. "Drunk papa no danger, eh? No cops here, anyway."

Claire nods reluctantly. "I need to grab something from my room and then I want to leave. You can come or not."

She slides the patio door open and quietly heads to her room.

Ivan shrugs, and stands by the back door while Claire is inside. He keeps an eye on the bag lady and the dogs, and listens for more yelling from inside, in case the dad shifts from self-loathing to anger.

For a moment, he amuses himself by imagining getting to shoot the kneecaps off Claire's dad. He considered the bag lady, and ways he might be able to frame her for it. Sadly, it meant he'd probably have to not use his guns at all.

Claire:

Upon entering, Claire hears "NO! Not again, please not again..." as the drunk man collapses at your feet. His eyes are not registering you. The phrase "The lights are on but no one is home." springs to mind.

He whimpers, begs, pleads, for you not to do "it' to him again. Your room's door is open. You feel a whiff of something...familiar. You can't put your finger on it, and it's not's exactly a smell.

Ivan:

Claire enters, and you hear loud pitiful whimpering and a thud.

You notice the baglady moving as non nonchalantly as possible down the street, away from the garbage she had been not rummaging through.

You catch a faint hint of something through the open door, you aren't sure what it is, it's weak, but it's familiar.

The dog watches you, the baglady, and peeks it's head around the door frame inside, then turns back to watch you all in order again. Repeating.

Ivan just stands there and watches the dog and bag lady.
