Blood & Bone. *sigh* w/spoilers *mumbles*

Post by Orlion »

The sighing and mumbling has to deal with mentioning there will be spoilers... whatever those are, it's hard to tell with this series anymore. I'm actually thoroughly enjoying this one.

So this appears to take place before Orb, Sceptre, Throne but after Stonewielder. We return and start to learn more about the place where Kyle & co. kicked ass briefly in Return of the Crimson Guard. It also looks like we will get more into the motives of Skinner, though maybe not. I am only on Chapter 5.

But plenty of info thus far... such that I am kinda smacking myself in the head for not figuring out sooner (it's so bloody obvious!). An example of this has to do with the multiple chainings of the Crippled God (Kaminsod to his friends). I'm also enjoying the ignorance of the Adwami tribes as to who the foreigner is that is leading them against the Thaumaturgs (it is Kallor, btw. He's apparently a huge boogey-man in their legends for obvious reasons, known as the Demon King). And apparently, the Thaumaturgs are decedent from the wizards that brought in the Crippled God to begin with (that's MY impression, anyway).

And poor Spite.

So, my timeline may be slightly off. Have about of a quarter more to go, and let me tell you: yuck.... you know, in the good, Esslemont is effective in his descriptions of melting flash and maggots sort of way.

It took me ages to figure out he was Kallor. Not until about 10 pages before he actually tells you. :D

Meh...it was sorta good, but maybe my least favourite Esslemont.

omg it's taken me forEVER to read this crazy book!!!

I've been reading it off and on for months now and I'm just
at 75% (according to my kindle.) I'm going to make the push
to finish this week.

I have Assail and the next karkanas book on pre order.

in my opinion none of the esslemont books are as good as
NoK and RotCG, I'm hoping Assail will be.
