Well, I suppose joy is in the ears that hear and not the mouth that speaks.

Why didn't Pitchwife laugh at Foul at the end of the 2nd chrons?

IIRC, Pitchwife and the First only arrived in Gravin Threndor after Foul had expended himself against the specter of Covenant and had vanished, leaving the ring rolling away for Linden to claim...which she only did under Covenant's repeated "Pick up the ring" urgings.

Point is that Pitchwife was too late to laugh at Foul.

Not only was he too late, as Savor Dam notes, but laughing at Foul wouldn't have worked a second time.

Foul matured into being able to laugh at himself?!

To be fair, Foul was reduced by Covenant before the laughter of Foamfollower (and several dead High Lords) defeated him.

Not so simple as that. Foul certainly had not acquired that ability; that would have enabled him to eschew Despite and rise above the essential nature that makes him an archetype. SRD would not make such a glaring mistake with a key character.

Foul just could not be overcome with the same gambit twice. Were this not true, what would be the point of a second set of doorstop-sized books?
