Yep, de Bauvoire, Kristeva, Friedan, and Greer have all done it.

I fast forward through the sex scenes, or take the opportunity to go to the kitchen. I'm just not into watching, even if it's fake... and meaningful conversation that is important to the plot does not generally take place in those intervals anyway. :)

I've read the 5 books that are out and I don't recall
Spoiler
Jon Snow being killed.
That made me mad that they showed that in the TV show if it's not in the books yet!!!

Overall, I also feel the saga could have been more satisfying if pared down somewhat. GRRM could have made related serieses. It does take too long to find out what happened to certain unfinished threads. But overall I find the books and the show to be very, very good.

The TV show hasn't even reached the end of book 3 for Jon Snow's story.

I haven't seen season 4 yet, but I definitely remember reading it at the end of the last book.

Finished the first book {Game of Thrones} a few days ago. All of a sudden it decided to 'get all fantasy' on me at the very end.

Yes - really enjoyed the book; It's not going to get the author a Nobel prize but he is going to get very rich on it. It reminds me of the old tv series Dallas in the way it is presented and I wonder if the tv series has that feel about it [which would explain a lot in respect of it's popularity]. I'm good for a couple more books I think and then I'll see .........

Which gives me an idea for a new thread called.........]

Just an update; as I suspected half way through book 3 I suddenly lost interest. The story was still going strong, the plot ever more involved, but I was never reaching a denouement. I craved that point where you get the impression a 'wrapping up' is beginning and there was no prospect of it happening, so alas I had to put it down. Fully understand those who can deal with this extended story telling and can see how great pleasure could be derived therefrom - but it doesn't suit me.

I made it through four. I guess I am more immune to the tediousness of plotlessness.

I read them all of course, but the last few were pretty disappointing. Sorta like Book 10 of the WoT.

And of course, now the series has passed the last book...I worry that the series will end up dictating what happens in the novels...if they ever get written.

Hard I think for Martin to maintain creative interest if he has to either a) write to a story that has been taken out of his hands or b) create a divergent story where he follows his own path, but in the knowledge that it will forever be being compared to that of the televised line.

I guess it's horses for courses lol ... I loved all the books!! And I love the show ~ brilliantly produced and filmed. I hope it does make Martin filthy rich ~ he's written a cracker of a story!

Without spoilers I'm frick'n loving this season! Last weeks Ep was epic! An epic Ep!! Eastwatch was cool and all and if only Sam Tarley hadn't been so damn impatient! But *shrug* ... hopefully soon this frigg'n information will out .. ugh! LOL ... such good televisual value! 😏

Not watching the show anymore. Stopped where they caught up to the books.

Wonder if the books will ever be written...
