Flagg's death was one of the great comic book deaths!! The whole Jihad thing was awesome.

Ben's story was also great. When he started to go over the edge. Pretty grim dude. heh

And the Janus Directive crossover! Manhunter gets the job done! :D

My problem with the series was that no major characters were likely to die. How many did? No majors. They only brought in "new supervillains" when they wanted to kill someone. But if the premise wasn't really followed, I'm not too concerned. It's still one of my favorite comic runs. Damned good stuff!!

I haven't read comic book series since I was a child. But my favorite then, and would probably still be my favorite now, was...

Of course, that list also includes the "bad guys," like the Jihad members. But the premise was for criminals to go on suicide missions, and, if they survived, they went free. Instead, most of the missions were carried out by the core members, who were largely non-criminals, and Flagg was the only one of them who died. No big time criminals died.

But, like I said, I love the series, and just change the premise in my mind. No prob. :D

Menolly, good taste! :D Some of the best stuff ever was in Thor. Simonson's run and the Celestial Saga (ending in #300) spring to mind.

Yes, but not since the 90's. I don't remember much of it.

Have you read the current Squadron Supreme stuff? It began with the 12-issue Supreme Power. Then a couple minis for Hyperion and Nighthawk, and now the first issue of the ongoing series is out. Among the best stuff I've read.

Seeing Kirby's artwork there brings back alot of good memories. Kirby was a true master. I also always liked Curt Swan's artwork as well. I could do without Steve Ditko though.

I skipped the minis, because I didn't see that Gary Frank was drawing them. I'm back now that SS has Gary on it, tho.

I loved Sandman, also Watchmen. My favourite though has to be Love and Rockets. I was in love with Hopey. In a good way.aaaaaaaaah
The reality is in this head. Mine. I'm the projector at the planetarium, all the closed little universe visible in the circle of that stage is coming out of my mouth, eyes, and sometimes other orifices also.

You know, I keep looking at Sandman, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, because I've heard all this good about them, but there's just something about the artwork that puts me off. On the other hand, Sin City, which I have little interest in, I have no problem reading when I pick it up. Maybe it's just the colour.

I was thinking the same thing about Curt Swan, who's only notable acheivement was a continuous, 30 year long stream of mediocracy. At least Ditko had style.

Let us not forget the truly gifted artistry of Don Heck, Frank Robbins, Ron Wilson, Arvel Jones, Herb Trimpe and of course Sal Buscema.
