That was a great team with lots of power and good characters on it. Its primary failure was that the writers took to putting in too much schtick and joking around, especially with Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. I wonder why Booster isn't in the promo pic? *shrug*

I think the Silver Surfer story where the Elders collected the Infinity Gems (they were called Soul Gems at that time; this was before Thanos decided to collect them) in their attempt to kill Galactus was a pretty good storyline.

I also liked the Avengers storyline where they have to go up against the Olympian Gods in the aftermath of Hercules being put into a coma at the hands of the Masters of Evil, who had taken over Avengers Mansion.

The Tank is gone and now so am I.

hashi - Booster Gold joined later in the series. he was not part of the original lineup. and I agree that the writers went to far with bwa-ha-ha-has.

that lineup pictured had a nice mix of different power levels, genders, generations...

I just discovered that the Kindle version of the Miller Daredevil run is excellent quality. Looks much better than the actual comics, because the paper they used at that point didn't age as well as the paper they used at other times. The kindle zooms in very nicely, too. Figured someone might want them this way, for $1.99 per issue.

I'm going to sell the comics and get all the kindles.

I seem to be alone in my love of ereading. I didn't like the idea of ebooks at all. But once I was forced to try one, because it was not available as a physical book, I instantly fell in love. I hope to never buy a physical book again.

And I've gotten several ecomics, too. Never tried a new release, but the reprints are inexpensive. I wouldn't if I only had a small screen, but it's great on my 10" tablet. Picture quality is excellent.

part of the fun of comic book finding the bargains. quarter comics, dollar comics. finding an unexpected run or that single issue you need.

Another fun thing is to buy a comic cheap, and find out a a few years later there's going to be a movie or Netflix and now your 50 cent Suicide Squad 1 is a $100 book.

Yeah its funny how that works sometimes.

But just as often it doesn't work at all.

I wonder if all of my Defenders comics will rise in value because of the Netflix series? Probably not since they are silver age and millennials couldn't care less about versions of characters and comics published in the dark ages before smart phones.

The Defenders comic hasn't spiked (to my knowledge), But Power-man #1 and Marvel Premiere #15 have considerably. Fortunately for me', I have both in excellent condition.

Definitely good news for you.

Truth is The Defenders hasn't yet premiered on Netflix so we'll see.

I wish I got Alias 1, too.

And DD 1, obviously.

the Defenders meeting the Squadron Supreme was great story arc. (3 issues I think)

I also have the issues where a general call was put out for new members. Jack of Hearts among others applied.

and the whole Elf with a Gun subplot was memorable.

My favorite Defenders issues are 44-45; great art, and lots of Rush lyrics!
They were the first Defenders I bought, too.

I also enjoyed the JLI, JLA, and JLE during the "bwah ha ha" era. Guy Gardner rocks.

My favorite run has to be Doom Patrol from #19 to whenever Grant Morrison left. #62? I don't have my comics near.

As a youngster, Uncanny X-Men #238-#250, New Teen Titans #1-#35ish, Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing, and ...uh... Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld?

Today? Alan Moore's Providence. You've got to be reading that. If not, go buy it and thank me later.
