Looking for title of old science fiction story

Post by packshaud »

I barely remember it, having read it about 20 years ago, and I would like to read it again.

It was about beings that lived and reproduced inside our minds, not having a physical body. I know that this description is exceedingly vague, but I really do not recall many details.
Where should I go?

Yes, this avatar is odd, but it portrays my state of mind well.

Hostess by Isaac Asimov?

I've got one that I have been looking for. Read it when I was a kid. Late 70s early 80s. It concerns a guy who is 'waking' up in different realities or lives, but later comes to to find out that copies of him are being made by some entity or machine.

Anyone have a clue on this one?
