Don't worry. I won't do that again. But I had to do it once.

While that wasn't technically the same as bragging about how you posted first (or whatever), I hope that [Syl] strongly encourages you never ever ever to do that again, but bringing the punishment stick to bear on your face.
The Numen's fantasy wrote:An avatar of Culo appears across the face of Pahlia, gloating about how he had finally escaped from those idiot worshippers back on Pahlia.

Only moments later, the current Culo interrupts with "Shut up, idiot. They're not gone, this is just earlier in the timeline. They can all hear you."

Moments too late, it would seem. For 99 out of Culo's 100 worshippers throw up their hands in rage, before walking across the street to worship Fate instead.

Fate? Bah. Worship Gifts, people give you free stuff. Speaking of which, I hope y'all aren't stepping on my domain by giving stuff to your followers... ;)

My followers are merely being allowed to Know additional ways they may earn their own rewards. Nothing is given.

Sorry. I was hoping to have results out before I went on vacation, but since I'm flying out tomorrow... I might be able to get it done while I'm at my family's house, but I wouldn't count on it.

To kill the time until then, I propose a Contest.
An Unpleasant Encounter

Rare is the mortal who ever meets a god. Rarer still is the mortal who ends up the better for meeting one.

Tell the story of one average being on Pahlia who encounters you in some form. Exactly what happens during the story—whether the mortal lives to tell the tale or not, whether he or she is devout or the worst kind of blasphemer or transgressor—is entirely up to you. The only restrictions are that it may not involve a prophet or any kind of non-mortal, should be a meeting that no mortal in his or her right mind (or even a delusional one) would ever ask for, and only the mortal who is the subject of your story may know of your divinity.

All stories should be submitted in the Forum of the Gods by May 19th. I will declare a winner by the 21st. The prize is that the winner's story will be considered actual history, while all others merely a tale that mortals tell.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

What factors make one story a winner, in this contest? Large scale? Small scale? Simply the quality of the writing?

Awesome! I haven't lost a Pantheon-esque contest in I don't know how long! :D

hmm...

I must have said that the wrong way then. I meant, "it's been a long time since there has been any Pantheon-esque contests to enter which I will once again lose."

I do have a story idea fomenting, though. A bit of a stretch regarding the use of Light, and I'm uncertain I'll pull it off successfully. But if it works, it will please me that I got it out there, if nothing else.
