Neville is no coward!
Just because he has a little difficulty mastering some things (well, ok, just about anything) doesn't mean he lacks in heart. He stood up to the unstoppable trio in book one, and "it takes even more (courage) to stand up to your friends." He not only accompanied Harry on the mission to rescue Sirius, but he blindly hurled himself at the very powerful dark wizard who crippled his parents. He overcame his pain and fear (he had a broken ankle, as I recall) to try to help the unconscious Hermione escape from the Death Eaters....
Neville may be lacking a certain aptitude towards magic, but he has no lack of courage. He is one of my favorite characters, hence the probably over-zealous defense....
Wormtail OTOH, is a very good question......What on earth was that little weasel doing in Griffindor?

"Going"? That suggests she's not there yetDarth Revan wrote:I think your going insane Merinaz...Merinaz wrote:The Hat was drinking on the job, I tell you! It tried to put me in a pineapple instead of a house!!! I think that the old Hat should alternate years with a Cheesehead Hat. That would stop future Wormlings from happening.
As for Wormtail - no idea.

Dumbledoor hinted that Harry would not regret stopping sirius and Lupin from killing Wormtail at the end of the third book, even though this lead almost directly to Voldemorts revival...
I think there is a rather big twist yet to come in the wormtail story; perhaps it will shed light on why he was in Gryffindor.

the said it had its reasons, right? maybe he...it...knew that Wormtail would figure heavily in events concerning Voldemort and Harry and the future...so he had to be in Gryffindor to be so close to Harry's father
Think on that, and be dismayed
What do you do to a man who has lost everything?
Give him back something broken

No, Sirius said something like:Zahir wrote:I have maybe the simplest theory:
Peter Pettigrew was different when he was eleven years old.
I can't remember what he said exactly, but that's the important parts. I think he was always a weasel. You always did hang around with those more powerful than you. so they could protect you. It used to be me, Lupin and James...
