Who's gonna with the Super Bowl?

Post by dANdeLION »

Now that the Bucs are mathematically eliminated, I find myself looking for another team to root for. I know I favor the Pats, and I think either Philly or St. Louis will be in it; but I'd like to know what you guys and gals think.

I had all the playoff teams listed, but the list thing told me it was too many options, so I cut the wild cards. I personally think Tenessee and Denver could go deep.

I expect the Pats will take it.

Me to! The Pats defense is probably the best in the NFL right now (apologies to the Ravens) and the offense seems to do just enough to win. The fact that the games will be played in Foxboro gives them another advantage. Belichik might be the best X and O coach in the league and you know the Pats will always have a good game plan and be prepared.

I can't wait till next year when they get Roosevelt Colvin back. It's just what the Pats D needs...another Pro bowler! Combine that with 2 first round picks, 2 secound rounders, a third and a fourth, and we might be looking at a 5 or 6 year run of dominance...kind of like the days of Montana and the 49ers.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. Philly keeps scraping and slides by "better" teams until the SB. If we meet the Pats, Andy should win by not calling a single pass play the entire game. Eagles hold the ball for 40 mins and win 7-6

I love it!

Brinn, you were making cogent points until the "dominance" run comment. In this era of free agency and salary cap, coupled with the mentality of owners to win immediately, and the ever-present problem of more and more injuries, and there will never be another team which dominates like the 49ers of the eighties or the Cowboys of the early nineties.

The days of dynasty are history. Even a repeat Super Bowl winner seems extremely unlikely to me. Ten of the twelve teams in this year's playoffs are newcomers from last season.

By the way, how did New England get so many draft picks for next year? :?:

I'm picking Philadelphia, but my heart would like to see Tenessee - which isn't even an option. :)

Have you checked? It's the American football championship game, played on Sunday, February 1st. Now, that's not to be confused with the National conference championship game, or the American conference championship game, which will happen this Sunday. This is where the American and National conference champions fight it out to see who's better.

I think you are probably going to be right, Stone. There remains two more games and I've been suprised by Carolina before and the Colts have looked pretty good this year. Considering the shape of the ball, you never know how its going to bounce. :-)

Still, it's #3 seeds vs. #1 seeds, and #1's almost never lose to #3's. In fact, these two matchups occured during the season, and the #1's won both games. So I say Pats beat Philly in SB XXXVIII.

Quit posting rot, Vaderevan. Do you not have a sport that you like? Recreational self-gratification is not a sport, by the way.
