The Highlander 30th Anniversary Convention, Florida

Post by Tefazipipo »

www.lashconevents.com/highlander-30th I swear, I didn't think these were ever going to happen again. With a (prayers it's good) remake of the first movie in the works, apparently earlier this year a con event organizer realized that there were no Highlander-related conventions happening. So this one came up quite suddenly.

I will be there! My bank account is going to scream and wail at me....

Thank you! I know, I know, it's been a long time. But when we aren't talking about the books, we're arguing politics. And with the insanity going on, I'm avoiding THAT here.

I am terribly excited. I actually watched the fan-made Highlander: The Watcher. I got to preview it, and quite liked it. I have some acquaintance with a few of the people involved, though I've only met one in person. I haven't been to a Highlander convention since 1997.

Just stay out of the 'Tank. ;) Plenty of non-political discussion in the other forums. :D

Never watched the fan made one...maybe I should seek it out. Actually, about 2/3 of the way through a re-watch of the series. Had to take a break around season 4 though.

"There should be only one!"

Is what I exclaimed after watching Highlander II...and III...and...

The first Highlander film is one of my all time favorites.
The idea of a remake doesn't bother me. It doesn't erase the original.
I predict the remake will be an okay film in the vein of the remake of Total Recall and The Day The Earth Stood Still. Sort of Meh but not terrible.

I'm not saying that Highlander2 was the worst movie ever made......wait....yes I am.
It was so bad it actually went back in time for me and negatively affected how much I loved the 1st one.
Yes, the suck was so bad it warped time.

(What I just wrote had a better plot and made more sense and High2) :D

When do they start remaking The Lord of the Rings? Another couple of years?

There is no Highlander II. It was a figment of your warped imagination. It never happened, it didn't exist. There is only 1. And the series.

Adrian Paul is doing The Sword Experience twice, once on Saturday and once on Sunday. theswordexperience.com/

Elizabeth Gracen will teach a Flying Rainbow Fan class.

F. Braun McAsh will teach Combat Knife Defense. I think that's what it is, anyway.

Anthony De Longis will teach MASTERING THE BULLWHIP -
THE SUPERSONIC FLEXIBLE BLADE

Very active con, this! Come, come if you can!

That, by the way, was a terrible convention. The organizer, Lashman, was very... disorganized, and he ripped off a lot of the guests. Adrian Paul did alright with his Sword Experience, because that has a life of its own.

In face, even now in Covid-19 that is going really well. He and the people working with him have really stepped up.
