Thomas Covenant Smiling

Post by Shuram Gudatetris »

I'm not much of an artist, but I was compelled to try to express my inner vision of Covenant.

I call it:

"Thomas Covenant Smiling"

It's sort of an amalgamation of Covenant from the first Chronicles. Gaunt and miserable.

Someone else called him a "Walking Dead". That's certainly not what I'm seeing or trying to express. Maybe the cheeks and cheekbone shading is too dark.

But "gaunt and miserable and trying to smile" is the vision. So I guess that would fall somewhere in TPTP. Or maybe after fasting in LFB. I rarely picture him bearded, even when he is supposed to have a beard, I only see it when it is mentioned again.

Maybe I just drew the picture that reflected myself--how I feel and the condition of my spirit--and only thought I was drawing Covenant :?

It's a good representation of someone trying to smile who has forgotten how to smile.

Hmm. The drawing is quite good actually. The forced smile/sneer looked like a hare lip (or zombie disfigurement) to me though. Maybe because both sides of the mouth are turned down and the cheeks aren't lifted (though starvation might mess that.)

I like the eyebrows and wrinkles between them. Fit Covenant's character at that time well.
