And to be fair those who held to skepticism re Trump .. were in the absolute minority. Cos there was me .. and the rest of you pro Trumpsters. Not sure who Mr Reliable is exactly ... but he wasnt particularly regular here.

It was pretty much me and rarely any other like minded poster. Wos was probably the most frequent and he doesnt identify as Democrat or singularly liberal.

On the other hand, pro Trump camp has always been well populated with you, Cail, Hashi, RR, SB, TF, Nano, Null and that other dude whose Nic I forget.

Oh right Av .. but Av isnt singularly liberal in all things, and Ive read him defend Trump as well.

The dominant narrative is conservative ... more narrowly Libertarian.

Yanukovych got elected President of Ukraine in 2010 in the aftermath of Russia disrupting gas supplies. Obama supported Syrian rebels in 2011, prompting Assad to allow Russia to come in--he did not even push back when Assad used chemical weapons. He subsequently sat by and did nothing when Russia took Crimea in 2014. Beginning in 2015 the DNC contracted Fusion GPS to conduct opposition research on Trump; they subcontracted Steele, who gained dubious information from both Russian and Ukrainian sources. Joe started running point on Ukraine for Obama during their second term, after which Hunter got that really lucrative job with Burisma.

All things considered, Democrats have done more for, and have received more from, Russia than Republicans have. This is another reason why Democrats are now pushing the "this November's election results won't be legitimate" conspiracy already.

They are advancing their plan. Not only is there talk of Russians meddling in the election to support Trump, there is now talk of Russia interfering in the primary process to help Sanders win. The Democrats don't want people to trust even the primary process of nomination, much less the general election.

That is what a true disinformation campaign looks like.

It appears that news of Russian meddling are overblown. At least we found out now as opposed to later like what happened after 2016. Perhaps we won't have to waste another $35 million on a pointelsss investigation, most of which is still being undone at this time.

Not sure when that would have been--she hasn't been here in a couple of months now. I know what you mean, though--I am not a Republican and do not necessarily support them but I definitely oppose Democrats.

I am 47, and the only Republican I've voted for in nearly 30 years is Rand Paul. I might actually vote for Trump this time, but I almost always vote 3rd party. Libertarian, for the most part.

The Democrats are right on social issues. I am a social liberal. But most of those battles have been won by now. Now the Democrats and the far left are all about socialism and fiscal progressivism. I will resist that with every ounce of my being.

You cannot be a good revolutionary if there are no battles to fight, and most modern Democrats want to be revolutionaries. They are always wanting to change the nature of America, which means they do not value independence, self-reliance, and being essentially left alone by the government as long as you are not breaking any laws or violating your neighbor's rights.

So true. A problem we're having here too for the last few years...the revolutionaries won...but they still want to be seen as revolutionaries. :D

I concur. Most Democrat voters aren't voting for a candidate so much as they are voting against Trump. That kind of thinking--voting against someone or something--is how people elect the wrong person into office.

that doesn't explain how he won his party's nomination. He has been defying expectations since the very beginning. There were several strategic things he did which has nothing to do with people voting against Hillary. For instance, appealing to the rust belt States.

He will easily beat any of the Democratic candidates this time around, which has nothing to do with people voting against someone. He has extremely energetic support among his base. Trump voters can not be dissuaded or discouraged no matter what the Dems throw at him.

Four years later, people are still underestimating him and failing to see what is right in front of their eyes..

Never undestimate the power of denial.

And no matter what he says or does.

He's said and done things that would have had any candidate pilloried even a couple decades ago. :D He doesn't exactly need the Dem's help to look bad. (Not that they understand that. )

But as you say, they're so fixated on him that they're destroying themselves first. :D

Well are they?

Its not about HOW Trump won his nomination from my POV ... I was saying he won the 2016 election because no one liked Hilary ... and it was definitely a protest win ... for him.

And of course Trump doesnt need the Dems to help him look bad lol πŸ˜‚ hes pretty much got that covered all on his own.

Will he win the 2020 ... well to my mind that depends on who he is running against.

I realize what your point was. I brought up contrary evidence for that point. If Trump could win the nomination by people voting FOR him--rather than against the other 12 guys on the Republican ticket--then what evidence do you have that he didn't win the Presidency by people voting FOR him? Having an opinion is one thing. Now try backing it up. Trump voters vote FOR him, not against anyone else. Democrats may have been discouraged by Hillary and stayed home, but that's not voting against her.

Obama gave up on U.S. manufacturing and claimed "those jobs are never going to come back." Those jobs were in blue states, the Rust Belt. Trump had a different message as a billionaire businessman who had nothing but hope for U.S. jobs and manufacturing, if the right business deals could be made. That MESSAGE attracted voters in blue states, which then flipped red for Trump.

There. That's what backing up a point looks like. Now you try. Hint: it takes more than laughy emojis.
Skyweir wrote:And of course Trump doesnt need the Dems to help him look bad lol πŸ˜‚ hes pretty much got that covered all on his own.
Then why do they spend so much time and energy trying to make him look bad, instead of making themselves look good?

He's going to win. Your mind has nothing to do with it.

:LOLS:

Youll have to ask whoever it is you think in your opinion invests more time focussing on Trumps faux pais than they do their own worth πŸ˜‰

But as I dont have a horse in the race ... I am interested only in how it is and will play out.

As to those WHO voted for Trump .. you need go no further than google to identify that there were those who rallied behind Trump from the get go ... and those who merely voted for Trump cuz they hated Hilary. A fuck you to the DNC.

Yeah not clever. But hey it is what it is and thats what brings us to where we are today.

And in your opinion Trump will take the gold πŸ† and he might. And he might not. It really will depend who he will be running against, period.

At this point its all speculation and opinion πŸ˜‰
