The epiphany of vinyl

Post by Obi-Wan Nihilo »

I'm not a luddite.

But tonight I was at a friend's house listening to songs I know very, very well on his turntable.

Holy crap, I've missed surface noise.

Physical Graffiti hasn't sounded this good in 30 years.

I ditched my 400 or so vinyl records when CDs came to the forefront. I really regret that now.

And I see that I'm going to spend a fortune buying a turntable and stylus, as well as a ton of records to reclaim this sonic sound.

Dammit.

Until then, come join me on listening to YouTube creator Jim Newstead. He tends to do first listens to complete vinyl sides when YouTube doesn't block him. He does talk over the music, but it's fun to see and hear the thoughts of a first time listener.
