Yeah, that campaign. It seems like they're using Get Away to announce Runes I think.

What did the webmaster say, Seppi?

If it's on the same schedule as it has been, THE MAN WHO RISKED HIS PARTNER should be out in paperback at the beginning of October. Three books would be quite a building of attention on SRD during that one- or two-month period.

I also posted a question (well, actually two). Let's see if I get an answer...

Just that it'll be out in the next few months but that there's a collection available in the UK that contains all 3 stories together.

Oh, yes. I'm told the 3-book volume is available at www.amazon.co.uk as THE REED STEPHENS NOVELS. :)

Just caught up on the gradual interview.. and have to say, i hope he doesn't give much ground in the editorial contest vis a vis the complexity of his writing. Personally i love the involved, layered stuff. It's his craft. I know it grates on some people but gimme that over bare bones bald description everyday.. as he says himself, it's more poetical.. isn't that one of the things we love about his work [remembering the thread about SRD use of language]

Wow some great new stuff has just been added. I almost wet myself laughing over the Keanu Reeves poke! And SRD guiding his website fans to the Stephen C. McKinney memorial thread (here on the Watch) is truly transcendant... 8O WOW!

Keanu Reeves? Never heard of him!

It is so unbelievably wonderful that SRD is aware of the Stephen C thread
and encouraging people to check it out. I'm very happy for Furls! :D

I'm also happy happy because my question, despite its preeminent lameness, has at last been answered!! All those years ago I never dreamed I'd be able to correspond with my favorite author in this way. Thank goodness for e-mail! :D

Congrats on getting your question answered, MM. Your question about dreaming was something I was curious about as well. Very cool.

I am still waiting for mine. :-(
I probably ended up on the low end of a very long list. It may take some time but that will just add sauce to the goose. :D

Mine neither... or at least not yet. I can only hope he got so many that mine is still in the queue somewhere.

Alis Mirak: Are you going to explain how Linden got Covenant's ring? I never quite caught how she ended up with it.
-Alis ;)

Alas, I can only tell you: wait and see.

(03/25/2004)

Ryan Thomas: I was wondering, everything I've read seems to have Linden as the main protagonist, how big of a role will Covenant play? Will he be a living, breathing character or some sort of behind the scenes entity, helping the people of the Land in their struggles with Lord Foul? Maybe stupid questions but he's one of my favorite all-time characters, I even changed my last name to his first, jk. Thanks for your time, and looking forward to the books!

I'm sorry, but this falls under the heading of Things I Don't Want To Give Away. "Spoilers" are called that for a reason. They satisfy some people--and really diminish the enjoyment for others. And, to be honest, I work hard at trying to generate narrative suspense. To reveal my secrets prematurely would cause me actual pain.

(03/25/2004)

The suspense is building!

Traditionally, I always recommend Patricia A. McKillip, Tim Powers, and Sean Russell. Now, however, I'm forced to add Steven Erikson to my list. Starting with "The Gardens of the Moon," his "Tales of the Malazan Book
Has anyone read these authors? Thoughts?

I just finished The Quest of the Riddlemaster trilogy by McKillip and enjoyed it immensely-every fantasy afficiando needs to read these books. The 2nd book is dedicated to SRD as TOT is dedicated to McKillip. I have heard really good things about Erickson (see: What SF/Fantasy are you reading in Gen SF/Fantasy discussion for more thoughts on Erickson, click my www below to go to Ahira's Hangar Gen Fantasy forum and there is a thread on Russell)
